- We’re heading into a warm and sunny afternoon with temperatures quickly climbing into the mid-80s. A few high clouds may pass by, but overall it will feel quite warm for this time of year—perfect for getting outside and enjoying the sunshine.
Later tonight, a weak cold front moves through. While it won’t bring any rain, it will usher in cooler air and set up breezy conditions for the weekend.
Saturday morning starts off noticeably cooler, with temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s. By the afternoon, dry air and gusty winds up to 30 mph will create elevated fire danger. Due to these conditions, a Red Flag warning criteria is being met, and a Fire Weather Watch is in effect. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.
By Sunday morning, some areas could briefly dip into the upper 30s, with most locations in the 40s. Temperatures will recover nicely during the day, reaching the low 70s—much closer to normal for late March.

- The latest drought update shows little change locally, but the exceptional drought has grown again to our south. Over 80% of Georgia is in a serious drought, and nearly 8% is under an exceptional drought. While this is severe, this is nothing compared to 2007, when 64% of the state saw the highest level of drought.
Friday: With clouds returning tonight and more humidity, some areas of fog will be possible in the morning. The end of the work week is set to be even warmer. Highs will be in the upper 80s, and Columbus could tie our record high of 88 degrees set in 1994.
A weak front will arrive on Friday evening. Unfortunately, this will not bring rain to our forecast, and the dry spell continues.
The Weekend: Behind the front, those temperatures will drop into the 70s for the weekend. A Fire Weather Watch is in place across our Alabama counties for Saturday. This is due to expected breezy winds, low humidity, and drought conditions.

- The cooler weather is coming to an end (for now). Get ready for 80s Thursday afternoon. We will have plenty of sunshine tomorrow.
We could tie a record temperature on Friday. Our record high sits at 88 degrees for the Columbus area, and we are forecast to be in the upper 80s. Winds will pick up on Friday, gusting up to 20 mph.
The Weekend: A week front is set to arrive early Saturday, bringing cooler temperatures. Some showers are possible across northern GA and AL, but we don't expect any of that rain. Afternoon highs will sit in the 70s both Saturday and Sunday (lows in the 40s Sunday).
Next Week: By next week, those temperatures will rebound. Highs will be back in the 80s on Tuesday, with lows in the 50s. We are not tracking any measurable rain in our 7-day forecast. The next chance for decent rain is still nearly 2 weeks away, meaning the drought will likely worsen.

By late week, a warming trend will take hold, with temperatures climbing back into the lower to mid 80s. The brief taste of early warmth won’t last long, though, as another cool, dry front is set to sweep through the region from late Friday into early Saturday.
This front will usher in breezy to gusty conditions, followed by a noticeable drop in temperatures. Overnight lows are expected to dip into the upper 40s, while daytime highs settle back into the lower 70s for the weekend.
Dry conditions look to persist for the next two weeks, keeping rain chances minimal.
Overall, it’s a mix of mild days, a short warm-up, and a refreshing return to cooler, crisp air heading into the weekend.

Donations such as soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and other personal care items went a long way in restoring dignity and meeting everyday needs. Every contribution, no matter how small, helped support someone on their path forward—and continued support can still make a difference.

Weekend: We are only two days away from the official start of spring. The first day of spring is this Friday. Plus, those temperatures will feel more spring-like at the end of the week.
Highs will be in the 80s this weekend. Rain chances will be minimal. The only chances for rain in the forecast come in the form of pop-up showers on Sunday and Monday. Don't bank on measurable rain from these showers.
