- The influx of rain in the Chattahoochee valley has caused for traces of e. Coli to be found in the water.
A technical program specialist with the Chattahoochee riverkeepers says it's typically for the river to see a spike in e. Coli after big rain events due to runoff from creeks and tributaries.
The specialist says once the influx of rain leaves and water levels are back to normal; the river will go back to meeting safe conditions.
The riverkeepers test the waterway quality weekly. Wave Shaper Island and areas of the white-water rafting course reported meeting water quality standard by the Environmental Protection Agency after testing.
However, the area of the river at rotary park tested above the recommended standard of safety for E. coli.

A breezy east-northeast wind will continue to bring in a drier and slightly cooler air mass, helping overnight temperatures fall into the mid to upper 50s. Afternoon highs will remain comfortable, ranging from the upper 70s to lower 80s.
This pleasant pattern is expected to continue through the weekend, offering lower humidity levels and comfortable conditions for outdoor activities.
WEEKEND: By late Sunday and into early next week, high pressure over the Gulf of Mexico will begin pumping more moisture back into the area. At the same time, a weather front moving through the region will increase the chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms.
As humidity returns, temperatures will also begin climbing, with highs reaching the upper 80s once again.
