- Central Georgia faces wind chills near zero degrees; Plus snow flurries
- Date posted
- Description
- We are roughly 10-15 degrees warmer than yesterday. Don't get used to the warm weather, because we have FRIGID weather ahead.
Rest of the Week: Morning lows will drop into the mid-20s Thursday morning. Clouds are returning to our forecast overnight.
We will keep the clouds on Friday, and add in a chance for stray showers throughout the day. Unfortunately, this will not bring substantial rainfall.
The Weekend: An area of low pressure will push through the southeast early Saturday. This system will bring a chance for snow across central Georgia. Here at home, a few snow flurries are possible Saturday morning.
Our big concern is the temperatures behind this low-pressure system. Highs will struggle to get above freezing on Saturday, and wind chills will be in the teens. Fast forward to Sunday, wind chills will be in the single digits in the morning.
Next Week: Lows will stay in the 20s through next Tuesday. By the Wednesd...

- There will be a slight warm-up in this forecast, but that does not preclude overnight temperatures from rising above freezing.
This is from a weak clipper system that will lift high-level moisture but produce no rainfall. It will be a cloudy start Wednesday, but expect sunshine later in the day.
Friday afternoon, the leading edge of another Arctic front will arrive with limited moisture, and because this times out during the afternoon, expect only sporadic light rain.
The next blast of frigid air will build in along a low-pressure system along and south of the region, setting up a coastal Georgia and Carolina winter storm. Wraparound moisture will bring light snow flurries briefly across our northernmost counties with little fanfare.
This air mass will be the coldest of the season so far. We will not get above freezing for more than a day and a half next Saturday and into the first half of Sunday.

- Description
- We could see an isolated shower today, but rain becomes likely tonight through early Sunday. Freezing rain is going to cause lots of issues for parts of north Alabama, parts of north Georgia. Cold Air Damming could force some colder air into the northern part of the News 3 viewing area tonight through early Sunday. After some early Sunday morning rain, look for a lull in the action, then a line of showers and storms, some strong, to move through the area from 12pm to 4pm. Light to moderate rain will still be possible through 7pm, then things dry out and turn much colder with Monday morning lows in the upper 20s. It will be breezy too, so be careful, as wind chills dive into the teens.

- Snow blankets WRBL area, MLK Day to bring freezing temps
- Date posted
- Description
- After this morning's snow, parts of the WRBL area saw above 2 inches of snow.
MLK Day: Temperatures tonight will drop quickly. Get ready for morning lows in the mid 20s for MLK Day. While some areas of ice will be possible overnight, the sun will quickly melt what is left.
Rest of the Week: Those chilly mornings will continue this week. Lows won't be above freezing until Thursday morning.
Our next rain chance will enter Wednesday night. Isolated showers will be possible Thursday. After a break on Friday, we are keeping an eye on another system moving through next weekend.
