- It's the last two weeks of the midterm campaign, and the candidates for Michigan's open U.S. Senate seat, Abdul El-Sayed (D) and Mike Rogers (R), met for the final time in a Metro Detroit debate Wednesday.
The previous match-up between El-Sayed, a former public health official, and Rogers, a former congressman, proved to be a fiery back-and-forth, and while this time it was more subdued, the snipes continued.
"Michigan is in trouble," Rogers said. "Our people are hurting."
Both candidates told voters why they put their names forward to go to Washington, D.C.

Adams said that he was on the couch when he smelled smoke. Adams went to investigate where it was coming from and when he opened a back door, the entire room was engulfed in flames.
Adam said he immediately ran to get his three kids and three dogs out of the house.
"Just to praise god because I was supposed to be at work for another four hours too,” said Adams. “My mom came into work and I was able to leave work four hours early. And if not, then it would have been a lot different because they were all sleeping in my room and my room wa...

The closures are part of a federal program testing combat-ready drones.

Camp Grayling says the restrictions affect about 10.8% of its associated acreage, with roughly 89% remaining unaffected.

- Just ahead of the colder months, energy bills could be going up in Michigan.
This week, the Michigan Public Service Commission approved Consumers Energy to raise natural gas rates by 4.3 percent for a typical residential consumer.
The rate hike gives Consumers Energy a chance to gain another $139.2 million a year from customers, according to a press release by the State of Michigan.
1.8 million Michiganders buy natural gas from Consumers Energy.
This rate hike comes after Consumers Energy made a request in October last year to raise rates by 10 percent for customers.

- The Jordan Valley EMS Authority Board terminated its director, Joel Yonkman, this past week.
The chairman of the Jordan Valley EMS Authority in East Jordan said board members were concerned about his handling of money and his lack of communication with the board.
“I did have an email out to Joel the previous week that I needed to sit down and talk with him because he was making some motions that weren't really board-approved,” said Mark L. Penzien, chairman of Jordan Valley EMS Authority. “And I wasn't sure exactly what I was going to say to him, but it's been that he hasn't been listening to the board."
Charlevoix County Sheriff Chuck Vondra said there is an investigation due to the accusation of financial misconduct.
Yonkeman declined to comment and directed UpNorthLive to contact his attorney, who wasn't available at the time of reaching out.
