- Ridgewood Reservoir on the border of Brooklyn and Queens once used built basins to collect water from Long Island. Author Richard Gomes and Mike Feller of NYC Parks Natural Resources Group reveal the basins' construction and service history, and the species that now live in the basins, which were decommissioned and drained in 1989. Members of The Highland Park - Ridgewood Reservoir Alliance want to protect the now wild area from developing into active recreation centers. In 2018, the Ridgewood Reservoir’s nearly 30 acres of wetlands became protected under the state’s Freshwater Wetlands Act.

She is Choreographer and Artistic Director of Dance for the Mosaic Dance Theater Company, which presents theatrical programs of traditional and contemporary dances of the Middle East and Mediterranean cultures. Samara travels throughout the US and abroad teaching workshops in Middle Eastern Folklore and Classical Oriental Dance. She also teaches weekly classes in NYC and does an annual five-day master workshop at the Ailey Extension.
