Government has stepped up logistics, deploying additional buses to transport those cleared for repatriation from Durban to Malawi via the Beitbridge Border Post.
The operation is being carried out in coordination with the Malawian High Commission and private sector partners.
Meanwhile, to address overcrowding, the eThekwini Municipality has opened a second temporary shelter.

- More than 3,000 undocumented immigrants from Malawi have been successfully repatriated at the Beitbridge Border Post since Friday.
The Malawian nationals left Sherwood in Kwa-Zulu Natal destined for processing at the port of entry.
Other nationalities that have been voluntarily repatriated include close to one-thousand Zimbabwean nationals.
They have traveled in buses from various points including Gqeberha, Cape Town and Durban.

The duo briefed media in Sandton- north of Johannesburg, two days after the party's Secretary General, Sibonelo Nomvalo announced the decision to expel them for bringing the party into disrepute.
In a collaborative statement Ndhlela and Zuma-Sambudla said that they learned of their expulsion through the media.
Ndhela says party procedures were not followed on their expulsion and deemed it illegal, he further accused the party's current leadership of isolating party President Jacob Zuma.
