- ESA astronaut candidates Sophie Adenot has received astronaut certification, along with four others at ESA’s European Astronaut Centre on 22 April 2024. This marks her transition into fully-fledged astronauts, ready and eligible for spaceflight.
She is the second French woman to have qualified as an astronaut.
The new astronauts will move on to the next phases of pre-assignment and mission-specific training, paving the way for future missions to the International Space Station and beyond.

- On 3 April 1984, the military took power in Guinea, a week after the death of President Ahmed Sékou Touré. They decided to free the prisoners held at Camp Boiro, a camp emblematic of the repression that marked the "party-state" regime. Abdoulaye Barry "Opéma", a photographer with the Ministry of National Defence, was sent to cover the liberation in pictures. Forty years later, he and Mouctar Bah comment on a selection of photos he took that day.
