Strachan also rejected the suggestion that political affiliation plays a role in hiring, saying he does not believe politics has any place in the process.
He encouraged Bahamians, regardless of political affiliation, to apply for positions within the public service.

- National Health Insurance Authority CEO Christy Butler revealed this morning that amongst beneficiaries, HIV/AIDS increased by 44% in 2025, with 354 reported cases.
There was also a 9.6% increase in overall STD diagnoses, including a 23% rise in syphilis cases. Women accounted for 58% of reported STD diagnoses, while men represented 42%, which she attributed to woman at times being more symptomatic.
According to the statistics, adults between the ages of 25 and 44 recorded the highest proportion of STD cases, underscoring growing public health concerns and the need for increased awareness, testing and prevention efforts.

- One day after viral videos showed the poor state of a bridge in Fresh Creek Andros, a team from the Ministry of Works and Family Island Affairs was dispatched to assess the situation.
MOWFIA Senior Engineer Antonne Taylor said that one of the pile caps, which is the thick concrete mats at the bottom of the bridge, sank and shifted the weight to one side of the structure.
The bridge is now closed to vehicular traffic, and there are plans to set up a temporary bridge within the next two months until a permanent one is built. In the meantime, a barge will be used to ferry residents across.

Following a vicious dog attack on an American boy in Bimini on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police Nicholas Johnson has confirmed that a person is assisting with the investigation.
During a recent press conference, Supt. Johnson said the attack prompted police in the northern region to launch an educational campaign that’s focused on properly securing animals. He also acknowledged there's been a rise in animal attacks.
Meantime, Animal Control Unit supervisor Lisa Lockhart said the ACU has been receiving a lot of calls about roaming animals. She added that traps are then set up to remove them from the streets.

- 97 bales of suspected marijuana were seized during a joint operation by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and the United States Coast Guard over the weekend.
The suspected drugs were transported to the RBDF’s base this afternoon. According to Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Captain Derrick Ferguson, a U.S. air asset detected a speedboat on Saturday as it was entering Bahamian waters. Ferguson said after it was detected, the vessel started heading back into international waters.
He added that before the vessel could re-enter international waters, the RBDF gave a nearby U.S. Coast Guard cutter permission to board and search the vessel, leading to the discovery of the suspected drugs.
