Saisai said farmers spend an average of N$15 000 to N$32 000 per month on electricity. He also said solar powered farming not only cuts this cost but makes room for farmers to strategically invest in other enterprises and infrastructure on the farm.
Saisai said solar panels have a lifespan of 15 to 30 years and can be utilised for crop production all year round as well as to power pumps to extract underground water.
Saisai said renewable energy sources also lowers emissions reducing air pollution and increases the profitability of agribusinesses.
