- A second flotilla was unexpectedly intercepted in the early hours of the morning, far further out than the first.
Activist Huwaida Arraf's ship, the Conscience, was one of nine vessels attempting to carry a reported $110,000 of aid to Gaza. It had diverted towards Egypt for safety, but was seized anyway.
145 people are believed to have been taken into Israeli detention.
Arraf remained steadfast, telling the IDF:
“Israeli navy, your blockade is unlawful. You have been deliberately starving the people of Gaza before the eyes of the world. Claiming that you will deliver humanitarian aid for Gaza is a propaganda ploy and we reject it.
"Regardless, your blockade is unlawful. You have no legal right to control Gaza and therefore anything going in and out of Gaza is not up to you. It is up to the people of Gaza."
