- Prime Minister, James Marape has announced the awarding of a K159-million contract for the Ramu Highway in Madang and K43-million to extend the North Coast Road from Bogia to Awar.
He made the announcement at Walium Station in Madang province recently when presenting K5-million to Madang Governor, Peter Yama for the construction of the Banu-Bundi Road that will eventually link up to Gembogl in Chimbu.
The Ramu Highway is among K1.4-billion of new road contracts throughout Papua New Guinea.
It adds to those already in place under the Marape Government’s signature ‘Connect PNG’ program for which about K1-billion has been expended over the last two years on roads throughout the country.

- Ok Tedi Mining Limited Managing Director, Musje Werror, recently handed over keys to a new barracks for single police officers based in Tabubil.
The barracks comprising 18 air-conditioned rooms, of which eight are self-contained and 10 regular with shared ablution facilities, a kitchen, and a dining area, was funded under the Ok Tedi Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme at a cost of K2 million.
The new facility replaces the old police single quarters barracks which was rendered un-inhabitable by the Health Inspector in 2018.
Assistant Commissioner Police Border Command, Peter Phillip, described the barracks as world class.
Whilst thanking OTML for the generous donation, he urged the police personnel to look after this modern facility.

- The Oil Palm Industry Corporation in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Livestock conducted a stakeholders meeting and opened discussions with Oil Palm industry stakeholders in West New Britain province yesterday to discuss the proposed changes to the Oil Palm Act.
Oil Palm Industry Corporation Acting General Secretary, Kepson Pupita led a team of officials to the meeting which was held at the Liamo Reef Resort.

- The boxing fraternity and the Oceania Fight Promotions is mourning the death of its patron and former Member for Kevieng, Ben Micah.
The late Mr. Micah died at around ten o’clock in the morning at the Pacific International Hospital from a suspected heart attack.

- Former Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill, has paid tribute to the late former Kavieng MP, Ben Micah.
Mr. O’Neill says late Micah has made a huge and important contribution to public life in the country and as a student and political leader.
He remembers the reforms the late former MP championed in the systems of the government through the establishment of the Provincial Governments.
Mr. O'Neill says he was his friend for over three decades and has been proud of the leadership he provided to the people of Kavieng and New Ireland as a whole.

- The National Airports Corporation has brushed aside claims over social media alleging that NAC has given approval to Hoskins Airport to become the international aviation hub of the New Guinea Islands region.
NAC Managing Director and CEO, Rex Kiponge, made this clear, responding to what he described as fake news on social media.
Mr. Kiponge also denied that NAC has given approval for the re-introduction of the locally owned third level airline operator - Travel Air or Mangi Lo Ples to operate.
