- Minnesota’s first romance-only book store opens in in Minneapolis
- Date posted
- Description
- Tropes & Trifles is not the first store dedicated to romance novels in the country, but it is the first in Minnesota. Owners Caitlin O’Neil and Lauren Richards tested out a storefront pop-up during the winter holidays to see if Minnesotans were interested in a book store dedicated to romance. After getting an “enthusiastically unhinged” response, the co-owners realized they had to close for renovations and quadruple the inventory they carried.
O’Neil and Richards know that romance is not just a genre for women and that people want to read love stories and about people like them. The co-owners say the genre is for everyone, you just need to find the type of story that draws you in.
The bookstore’s grand opening is Saturday, April 13.
