Angela Rayner has been cleared of any wrongdoing over her tax affairs by HMRC.
The Ashton-under-Lyne MP told ITV News she was 'relieved' by the news.
Ms Rayner resigned as deputy Prime Minister in September last year after admitting underpaying stamp duty on an £800,000 flat in Hove, East Sussex.
The Stockport-born MP admitted she had failed to pay £40,000 in stamp duty, and a report by ethics watchdog Sir Laurie Magnus found she had breached the ministerial code. But Ms Rayner says she welcomes a decision by HMRC to clear her of any wrongdoing, after worrying that people felt she had been 'on the take'.

Police said that they had been called to the scene before 6am amid 'concerns for the welfare' of the women. Police have not yet identified the women.
Crews rushed to the beach alongside a helicopter and two lifeboats on Wednesday morning in what appears to be a search operation. Coastguard vessels have been spotted out on the water, with a significant police presence reported along the shoreline, reports the Daily Star.
In a statement, Brighton and Hove Police said: "Emergency services were called to concerns for the welfare of three women in the sea off Brighton at around 5.45am this morning (13 May). Sadly, the bodies of three women were recovered from the water near Madeira Drive."
