While foundations that donate to colleges can differ in missions and projects that they support, the Burns and Leavey foundations have been influential in helping build LMU into the campus it is today.

- Dr. Clarence Shields Jr. ('62) is a pioneering member of the world-renowned Kerlan-Jobe Institute and the founder of Team HEAL, a school-based program providing athletic training and medical care to students at underserved high schools in Los Angeles.
He’s been practicing medicine for nearly 59 years and explained that the value of service to others was instilled in him from his Jesuit education, most notably at Loyola High School and Loyola University.
