- While the world celebrates Earth Day, LMU dedicates the month of April to advocate, teach and inspire environmental innovation, consciousness and deeds. Since 1990, Earth Month celebrations on campus have been possible because of Green LMU and its efforts that have brought nationally recognized success to the University. To continue the celebration, the Loyolan explored LMU’s green history and spoke with the director of Green LMU and the Center for Urban Resilience (CURes) to see what progress has been made for LMU’s carbon neutrality promise.

The president-elect intends to protect social justice on campus, asserting that, "it's part of our DNA." Poon will continue to serve out his current role as executive vice president and provost until he assumes the president on June 1, 2025.

With driverless vehicles on a college campus, there will be obvious safety concerns and user hesitations, but so far, Waymos haven’t caused any issues on LMU's campus.

- On March 27, the Associated Students of Loyola Marymount University's incoming president and vice president pair was announced: biology major D’Anthony Yates and international relations and sociology double major Isla Del Carlo. Their campaign slogan, “Empower, expand, and evolve,” encapsulates the presidential pair's goal of voicing student opinions.
“I can’t think of two people who love LMU more,” said Yates.

- Dr. Clarence Shields Jr. ('62) is a pioneering member of the world-renowned Kerlan-Jobe Institute and the founder of Team HEAL, a school-based program providing athletic training and medical care to students at underserved high schools in Los Angeles.
He’s been practicing medicine for nearly 59 years and explained that the value of service to others was instilled in him from his Jesuit education, most notably at Loyola High School and Loyola University.
Watch the video to learn about his career as an orthopedic surgeon, his time with the Los Angeles Rams, LMU and the legacy he’s created through service and philanthropy.
