Officials say Portland Fire and Rescue responded in the early morning hours on Saturday to a report that a vehicle had crashed through the front entrance of the Multnomah Athletic Club. We have learned from initial reporting that after the fire was controlled, one person was found dead inside the car. Portland Mayor Keith Wilson spoke alongside law enforcement officials during a press conference in the hours after the incident.

The War Powers Resolution of 1973 says Congress must declare war or authorize the use of force within 60 days. Congress has not made an attempt to force the issue, but many have left town for the week after the Senate again rejected a Democratic attempt to stop the war.
The 60-day deadline falls on Friday. However, the Trump administration argues the deadline does not apply because they effectively ended action against Iran after the ceasefire began in early April.
Despite the extension of the ceasefire agreement, Iran continues to keep a tight grip on the Strait of Hormuz and the U.S. Navy’s blockade remains.

- The United States will withdraw about 5,000 troops from Germany in the next 6–12 months, the Pentagon confirmed on Friday.
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said in a statement that the "decision follows a thorough review of the Department’s force posture in Europe and is in recognition of theater requirements and conditions on the ground."
The number of troops leaving Germany would be 14% of the 36,000 American service members stationed there. That is more than any other European country, according to the Defense Manpower Data Center.
