- A young bald eagle is back in its nest after a successful rescue effort in Eugene. The eaglet was examined by Cascades Raptor Center and found healthy enough to return home.
An initial attempt on June 8 was unsuccessful because the available boom lift could not reach the nest.
The following day, rescuers used an ultra-boom lift donated by Sunbelt Rentals to safely reunite the eaglet with its family.

- A young bald eagle that fell from its nest earlier this week has been safely returned home after a coordinated rescue effort in Eugene.
Wildlife experts at the Cascades Raptor Center examined the bird, known as an eaglet, and determined it was healthy enough to be reunited with its family.
Rescuers first tried to return the eaglet to the nest June 8, but the boom lift available at the time was not tall enough to safely reach the nest. The effort was postponed while crews worked to secure the proper equipment.

- The Eugene Police Department says e-motos, e-bikes, and electric-powered scooters have become more common in Eugene. So too, have complaints and safe-use concerns, especially about e-motos being used on bike paths, sidewalks and on roadways, where they are not allowed.
In fact, e-motos are only allowed to be ridden on private property and designated "Off Highway Vehicle" (OHV) areas, Eugene PD says.
Eugene PD has installed a new reporting tool to MyPDConnect to track complaints and pinpoint locations where illegal e-moto and e-bike/e-scooter behavior is happening.
Regardless of what you ride, the speed limit on bike paths is 20 mph. When others are present, the suggested speed is 12 mph and this applies to all path users. Eugene PD notes that e-motos are in the same category as dirt bikes, which are not allowed on streets unless they comply with motor vehicle equipment and the rider has a motorcycle endorsement.
