- Donald Sharma, 43, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of delivery of heroin and one count of attempted delivery of fentanyl as part of a plea agreement that will dismiss all other drug-dealing charges in the case.
Under the agreement, Sharma will be allowed to delay surrendering until Oct. 2, when he will begin serving a 13-month prison sentence followed by two years of post-prison supervision. During that supervision period, he will not be allowed within 150 feet of Portland’s Dawson Park.
Sharma owned a mini mart across the street from the park. Court documents alleged he dealt drugs out of the store. He was arrested in March 2025 and later released on bail.

- A 20-year-old active-duty U.S. military member is facing rape and human trafficking charges after Vancouver Police officials say he sexually exploited two teen girls he met through social media.
Andrew Guerrero was arrested June 24 after Vancouver Police learned that several teenagers were staying with an adult man at a Vancouver hotel.
When officers responded, they found three teen boys and two girls, ages 13 and 16, inside the room, according to investigators.

- What started as a routine check of shellfish harvesters on the Tokeland tidelands ended with four people cited after a Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife police (WDFWP) officer found dozens of concealed Dungeness crab, most of them undersized.
WDFWP Officer Garrison said he was watching harvesters when he saw a man place a live crab into the hood of a jacket being worn by a woman. The man then adjusted the woman’s large sunhat to help hide the crab, according to the officer.
A short time later, another couple joined them. As the group reached the parking area, Garrison asked if they had any crab, and they said no, according to the department. The officer then noticed crab legs sticking out of one woman’s hood and said the group’s clothing appeared to droop and show bulges as they walked carefully.

Beginning July 1, new parking fees approved by the Portland City Council will take effect, increasing the cost of parking meters, city-owned garages, event parking, and monthly and annual parking permits.
Downtown Portland meter rates will increase from $3.00 to $3.20 per hour, with event parking seeing some of the largest fee hikes. The changes come just one year after the city raised parking prices by 20–25% across multiple parking districts.
City leaders say the increases are part of an effort to help close the Portland Bureau of Transportation's budget gap.

- A tractor trailer rolled over on Monday afternoon, closing the northbound Interstate 5 offramp onto North Columbia Boulevard, the Oregon Department of Transportation said.
According to ODOT, the offramp will likely be closed through the rush hour.
There will likely be delays on northbound I-5 in North Portland because of the crash and ODOT recommends drivers use another route.

- A 38-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attempting to kidnap a 3-year-old child in Salem, Oregon.
The Salem Police Department said that on Sunday around 5:42 p.m., officers responded to a report of a man who had attempted to kidnap a 3-year-old toddler in the 2500 block of Rose Garden Street Northeast.
The incident took place while the father of the victim was with his son and 10-year-old daughter. Police reported that Lino Lopez-Palafox, 38, of Salem, tried to take the child after arguing with the father and trying to take the daughter's bike.

- The Lyle Hill Fire in the Columbia River Gorge has burned 233 acres as of Monday afternoon, according to fire officials, prompting evacuations and threatening 75 structures.
The fire was earlier reported to be 450 acres, but officials completed more accurate mapping.
The fire started Sunday at around 1:45 p.m. and spread quickly because of windy conditions.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and on Monday afternoon, officials with Lyle Fire & Rescue District No. 4 asked the public for help in that investigation. They said they are looking for pictures and video taken between 1:40 p.m. and 1:55 p.m. that show the fire starting. They also want to know if anyone saw hikers in the area above Riverview Drive before 1:40 p.m. on Sunday.

It was an active weather day across the Pacific Northwest on Saturday, including a brief bout of severe weather.
"At 3:37 p.m. PDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Molalla, or 12 miles south of Oregon City, moving southeast at 20 mph," the National Weather Service in Portland said. "Weather spotters reported a funnel cloud."
The Tornado Warning was in effect for 17 minutes and included the city of Molalla.
Local storm chaser Josh Sullivan was following the storm and called the National Weather Service office in Portland to report the funnel cloud.

- The Lyle Hill Fire in the Columbia River Gorge has burned 450 acres, according to the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center.
The fire started Sunday and spread quickly because of windy conditions.
Level 2 "Be Set" and Level 3 "Go Now" evacuation orders remain in effect, according to Klickitat County Emergency Management.
An evacuation shelter is open at Columbia High School in White Salmon.
Evacuation orders were first issued around 2:45 p.m. Sunday.
The Northwest Interagency Coordination Center said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
"Structures, crops, power lines and substations are threatened," the agency said in its morning briefing.
Officials say that the Lyle Activity Center at 308 Klickitat Street is serving as an information center.

- A wildfire near Lyle prompted officials to issue Level Two “Get Set” and Level Three “Go Now” evacuation notifications Sunday afternoon.
A notification update issued Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 2:45 p.m. said the evacuation notices were issued due to a fire in the Lyle area, now named the Lyle Hill Fire.
Level 3 evacuations cover over 8.5 square miles just north of Columbia River, according to Klickitat County Emergency Management website.
Lyle is an unincorporated community in Klickitat County, Washington, situated on the Columbia River Gorge and is about a one-hour drive away from Portland.
The small town with a population of just over 500 is also across the river from Rowena, an Oregon town recovering from its own fire which burned more than 3,600 acres just last summer.
