- Description
- As smoky conditions affect the Portland area, Multnomah County officials are urging residents to take steps to keep indoor air as clean as possible.
For people with air conditioning, the county recommends setting systems to recirculate indoor air rather than pulling air in from outside.
For those without air conditioning, officials suggest using an air purifier. But because many households don't own one or can't afford to buy one, experts say a simple do-it-yourself alternative can help.

Despite slightly improved air quality, Government Camp remained quiet Wednesday as smoke from the fire continued to affect the area.
And as more Oregonians live in and move to wildfire-prone areas, one Oregon State University researcher says preparing individual homes is only part of the solution.

Because of those concerns, Northwest Naito Parkway remains closed between Northwest 9th and 15th avenues. Fire officials say they do not yet know how long those closures will remain in place.

- Description
- Portland Mayor Keith Wilson was joined by Police Chief Bob Day and Multnomah County District Attorney Nathan Vasquez, as well as other city leaders, to provide updates on multiple incidents that took place over the weekend.
One of the things discussed was the deadly shooting at a large house party in the Cully Neighborhood in NE Portland from early Sunday morning, that left a teenager dead and five others injured. No arrests have been made.
Officials also discussed the situation unfolding at the vacant Centennial Mills warehouse, where a large fire broke out on Sunday. It is feared that the 100+ year-old structure could be near collapse. There is also concern about the toxicity of the smoke it produced.

Before the shooting, a Ring camera captured the neighborhood packed with vehicles as cars lined up, horns blared and people yelled outside a home on Northeast Alberta Street. - A federal class action lawsuit filed against xAI, the company behind Grok, and Stability AI is raising questions about the role artificial intelligence companies play in preventing the creation of AI-generated child sexual abuse material and how Tennessee’s own law addressing the issue could apply as AI technology continues to evolve.
The amended complaint was filed on behalf of five anonymous child plaintiffs, including three from Tennessee. The lawsuit alleges the children’s photographs were used to create AI-generated child sexual abuse material without their knowledge or consent.
The lawsuit alleges xAI and Stability AI provided AI tools that enabled the creation of the images and failed to implement safeguards that could have prevented the alleged misuse. Both companies deny the allegations, and the case remains pending.

- Description
- Storm Tracker 2 Digital Meteorologist Bobby Corser and Storm Tracker 2 Meteorologist Matt Gontarek break down Saturday's 'Extreme Fire Risk' east of the Cascades. A PDS or "Particularly Dangerous Situation' Red Flag Warning is up for parts of Oregon and Washington. In these areas, winds could gust as high as 50 mph. Relative humidity will be in the upper single digits to mid-teens across much of the region.
On Friday, two National Weather Service forecast offices — Spokane and Pendleton — issued the first Particularly Dangerous Situation, or PDS, Red Flag Warnings for the Pacific Northwest.
PDS warnings are reserved for the most serious situations. They have been used for tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings for years, but thanks in part to Oregon’s 2020 Labor Day fires, the designation has been added to fire weather warnings.
The rest of the region is under a Red Flag Warning. Winds are expected to gust as high as 40 mph as a dry cold...
