Under the new president there’s been a crackdown on protest action. ‘I’m worried about what’ll happen to him in the future’, his mother says. ‘We hear all these horror stories about what’s happening to people’. The Colorado River - which stretches from the Rocky Mountains to the Sea of Cortez - is a lifeline to tens of millions of people. Now, thanks to climate change and drought, it's in trouble. 'I'm not going to say it's too late, but we are in true crisis', says river scientist Professor Jack Schmidt. - 'God, Fatherland, Family': ahead of the September 25th election, it seems that Mussolini's values are still in vogue in Italy. They are now carried by Giorgia Meloni, whose ultra-right party is touted to win.
In Italy, the far-right Brothers of Italy party - helmed by Giorgia Meloni - is leading opinion polls ahead of this weekend's election. The party has its roots in fascism, with some commentators describing the party as 'neo-fascist'. Though fascist apologism is a crime in Italy, the memory of Mussolini continues to be venerated by some. 'Many people feel a kind of nostalgia for Mussolini. If you talk about Brothers of Italy, at least 80 per cent of supporters feel the same way', alleges Mirko Santarelli at a rally he organised to commemorate the fascist leader. Nonetheless, 'fascism' is a label Meloni is eager to shake. 'Many decades ago, the Italian right relegated fascism to history, condemning the deprivation of democracy', says Meloni in an televised address. In P...

'We have a responsibility towards the entire world. We have to keep all the nuclear waste inside. It can't be allowed to leak out', explains Oleksiy, who heads the electrical department at Chernobyl. On February 24th, Russian troops seized the plant. 'They said: We are the Russian army, and we are taking over the plant for your safety'. 'They aimed their guns at us. We were psychologically pressured. We knew right away that it was very dangerous', says Mykhailo, a Chernobyl engineer. Both men were held hostage in the plant for a month, before Russian forces were forced to retreat.
