- The Adventure of a Glass Bottle: In Vanuatu, businesses are trying to tackle the problem of rubbish with sustainable solutions. Vanuatu Brewing Limited has been collecting and reusing its glass bottles of Tusker beer & Cascade water for over 30 years. From the production site, delivered to the clients in Port-Vila and outer islands, then collected by bottles collectors and coming back to the industry to be washed, reused and start a new life. ‘We visit the rural islands two or three times a year to collect bottles’, says Christophe. Tusker now imports 300,000 less bottles per year thanks to this scheme, and locals are incentivised by being paid for returning bottles. ‘If I see a bottle on the road I take it home and clean it’, says one resident.
