- Pressure is mounting and the volume is only getting louder regarding the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixture between the Republic of Ireland and Israel. With the first of two games against Israel scheduled for late September, the Football Association of Ireland is running out of time to carry out the administrative duties required should they decide to bow out and accept the consequences.
Recent days have brought on-field protests from fans and eloquent soundbites from pundits and players – perhaps most notably Seamus Coleman, who spoke of the difficulty that he and his colleagues find themselves in as the questions keep on coming. So, is playing this highly contentious match the only option? If it is, where will it take place and how will it unfold? And what are the repercussions if Ireland does indeed decide to abstain?
On this episode of The Indo Daily, host Fionnán Sheahan is joined by Irish Independent senior sports correspondent Conor McKeon to exami...

I’ve watched in awe as friends have shown me their latest purchase, and vowed for months to start shopping.
But despite having this overview of how the app works and people in the know around me, the mistakes I made that resulted in the temporary loss of €200 were ostensibly naive ones.

Individuals seeking a rented apartment, or even a double room in a shared house, are being priced out of the market unless they can find a way to share the burden of high rents with someone else.
For solo parents on low-to-average incomes, a private rented apartment is likely unaffordable, potentially forcing them to look for a room in a shared house.

Concerns have been raised about whether “excessive” numbers of gardaí are travelling on deportation flights, with some flights carrying more than double the number of gardaí on board than deportees.
The Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee is now calling for further clarity on the breakdown of costs associated with the flights, which the State have spent around €2m on chartering to date.
“Obviously, security on any flight is paramount, but I don’t think we’ve been given a rationale as to how these figures are arrived at,” said committee chair John Brady, Sinn Féin TD.

- Political Editor Mary Regan is joined by Maeve McTaggart to discuss the week that was in Irish politics. Israel was front and centre of the agenda on two separate fronts. Firstly, the Occupied Territories Bill continues to cause divisions in Leinster House, with opposition parties demanding services be included before the bill is passed, while the Taoiseach insists it would have massive consequences on Irish jobs.
We don't discuss sport too much on Indo Politics, but Ireland's upcoming double header against Israel in the UEFA Nations League has taken space on the front and back pages this week, particularly the second game which is due to be played in Dublin. Irish players such as Seamus Coleman insist it shouldn't be on the footballers to make a decision, but rather the FAI, the government and UEFA.

I (Travel Editor, Pól Ó Conghaile) spent an evening here last week, and saw both. I smiled like an idiot at a gig. I booked a solo bar seat at a restaurant I’ve wanted to try for ages. I even found a Lidl with a glass floor revealing an 18th-century theatre pit trap (who knew?).
I also saw burnt out and derelict buildings, several people doing drugs, pigeons pecking at refuse sacks, and side-stepped a three-man tent stretching halfway across the pavement on a busy South Great George’s Street.
My heart sang and my heart sank. Dear, dirty, delicious Dublin: a city I love, and can’t stop apologising for, all at once.
