- The nuclear agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia has sparked many comments, questions and reactions.
At the White House on Thursday, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt provided further insight into the nuclear deal made between the two countries, including the conditions set out by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Trump says the deal is “totally subject to” Saudi Arabia signing the Abraham Accords, an agreement which requires the kingdom to normalize ties with Israel.
The civilian nuclear program would allow Saudi Arabia to use American technology to build nuclear reactors and to enrich uranium.
Israeli Analyst, Assaf Orion, says the deal “is a breakthrough agreement on nuclear power,” and that it will “affect the nuclear arms race in the middle east.”
People in Saudi Arabia are welcoming the agreement, with Palestinian born Hani Faraj saying it is “a blessed step for the Kingdom.”

The Orcas use a "hold-to-ram" strategy to shatter one of the heaviest fishes in the world, a sharp-tail sunfish. One Orca holds the fish while another rams it at high speed, causing it to explode. Lead author of the research Kathryn Ayres says the maneuver helps the younger orcas feed, but may also just be for fun.

For more than a week, Progressive Conservative MPPs have been facing scrutiny for charging downtown Toronto hotel stays to the taxpayer instead of commuting to and from Queen’s Park.
Former tourism minister Stan Cho resigned after claiming $16,000 over three years despite living six km away from the Ontario Legislature, while three Peel Region MPPs billed $50,000 between them over two years. “They’re all paying it back, and it’s unacceptable,” Premier Doug Ford fumed at a news conference on Monday. “If you guys think for a second I’m happy about this, you’re wrong. - Description
- A state of emergency has been declared in north-central Chile’s Coquimbo region and the Huesco province after a catastrophic, days-long storm killed at least 10 people and injured 17 others.
In the span of just one hour Sunday evening, Coquimbo was hit with 20 millimeters of rainfall — the amount it typically receives over the course of a month – the National Service for Disaster Prevention and Response (SENAPRED) said. From Saturday to Sunday, 84.9 millimeters were recorded.
The "abnormal and extreme precipitation” was also felt in Atacama, which recorded 102.2 millimeters.
As a result of road closures caused by mass flooding, roughly 100,000 people remain in isolation, with 150,000 without electricity, and approximately 2,200 displaced from their homes altogether. At least four people have been reported missing.

- Gull Bay First Nations Chief Wilfred King was among a number of Indigenous leaders who addressed the media on Tuesday over Ontario’s controversial wildfire response.
King had this to say after listening to Premier Doug Ford address the response to wildfires burning in the northern part of the province Monday: “Not once in his speech did he mention First Nations people. He praised himself and his government about what a wonderful job they were doing… He’s creating the narrative so that he can basically lie to Canadians.”
“While there’s an appreciation for the professionalism and dedication of front line personnel, there’s a strong view that leadership failures within the provincial system requires immediate action and accountability. Immediate leadership changes within the Ministry of Natural Resources must occur," Chief King continued.
Ford said earlier Tuesday that he totally disagreed with the characterization that the provinc...

- Parker, an 11-year-old boy with autism, went missing from his home in the Calgary community of Thornecliff on July 16, but an Amber Alert wasn’t issued until two days later.
As the search entered its sixth day Tuesday, more than 300 police officers could be seen scanning the area on foot, horseback, in vehicles and through the air.
While social media has been incredibly helpful in gathering volunteers to search for the missing boy, it’s also led to issues including artificial intelligence (AI) generated content and posts containing misinformation.
AI content can “divert resources from a legitimate search path,” Calgary Police Acting S. Sgt Scott Gutterson said, warning the public that “if it seems too ridiculous to be true, it probably is.”
As Global's Skylar Peters reports, Calgary police are now asking anyone in the Thorncliffe area to share any CCTV footage they have, as it could be helpful in their search.

- Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Tuesday that the United States' plan to launch tariffs "in a series of trade actions against Canada "is in violation of CUSMA" —Canada's trade agreement with the US and Mexico."
He said he spoke to President Donald Trump in the morning and the two agreed "to intensify negotiations in the coming week," adding that the prime minister "looks forward to doing that.'
In response to a question, he said the government, in consultation with the premiers, will look at all options in terms of how to respond, including retaliatory tariffs, if the US tariffs come into effect in 29 days.
Carney also said the decision to remove American alcohol from shelves was taken by provinces individually and the decision to change that "first and foremost will be taken by the provinces themselves."
