“We call for this investigation on the basis of the intentional violation of the Treaties; of calling a referendum in the face of severe risks to Canada’s sovereignty and the Treaty Relationship and of failing to take action on the violation of privacy rights of millions of people,” the assembly said in a statement on Wednesday.

- Description
- Ghanian World Cup squad member Thomas Partey will miss his country's opening World Cup game in Toronto, after losing an appeal in Canadian federal court to overturn a decision to deny him entry into Canada.
The Canadian government originally denied Partey entry, due to eight sexual violence charges the star midfielder faces in the U.K.
Partey’s legal team brought forward a motion to have the decision reversed, but federal court Justice Roger Lafrenière dismissed the motion.
“Given the explicit nature of the allegations in the indictment, it was open to the (Immigration) officer to conclude that (Partey) committed serious acts of sexual violence that render him inadmissible to Canada,” Lafrenière wrote.

- Former U.S. Secretary of State and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said on Monday that she felt that former president Joe Biden made a "terrible mistake" in deciding to run for a second term in the 2024 election.
“He made a terrible mistake. He made a terrible mistake for himself, his legacy, and for the country. He had said that he would not run again.,” Clinton said.
She added, “Very sadly, I believe whoever emerged from that contest — whether it was the vice president, or a governor, or a senator, or anybody else — would have beaten Donald Trump. So I think it was a terrible miscalculation on the part of President Biden.”

Among the changes is a new reverse onus for several offences that require the accused to prove why they should be released on bail, expanding the reverse onus to cover offenders with previous convictions within the previous 10 years and consecutive sentences for repeat violent offenders in certain cases.
Fraser also commented that it's been a “Tough couple of weeks to be a police officer,” referencing police officers killed in the line of duty, including most recently Toronto Police Const. Marc Pinizzotto, who died after being shot last Thursday.
