- Dozens of delegates at the United Nations walked out of the hall when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began his speech to the General Assembly meeting of world leaders on Thursday.
During his speech, Netanyahu thanked U.S. President Donald Trump. “I thank him for his bold leadership. He boldly confronted an enormous danger to America, Israel and the world. Decades ago, he understood that if left unchallenged, the fanatic Ayatollahs who chant ‘Death to America, death to Israel’ would eventually carry out their mad fantasies. So Israel and America acted together not only to protect ourselves, but to save civilization.”
Netanyahu also praised his people and the Israeli Defence Forces in his speech.
“Our history. Our values are courage. The courage. The courage of our brave people who withstood 1000 massive ballistic missiles that Iran rained down on our cities and our civilians… I salute the courage of the people of Israel. I...

- During question period in the House of Commons on Thursday, Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre called rising diesel prices across Canada “a full-scale diesel price crisis,” as he lambasted Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government for not cutting fuel taxes such as the fuel standard tax.
Carney defended his government’s strategy, saying the Build Canada Strong Act “will allow this country to build new refineries and keep diesel prices lower.”
“He's totally out of touch,” Poilievre said, “He blames the provinces for inflation under his leadership. He highlights a bill that has been in place for a year and a half and hasn't built a single project.”
The prime minister then took a moment to congratulate Poilievre on his 20th anniversary in the House of Commons, highlighting by comparison that unlike the opposition leader, he has been “here for little more than a year.”

And does that strategy become more challenging with Conservative Leader Lorne Doerkson, who has sought to distinguish himself from Trump's brand of politics?

- Canada’s privacy commissioner has opened an investigation into a massive cyber breach from earlier this month believed to have exposed the personal information of millions of North Americans, including Canadians’ driver’s licences.
The Office of the Privacy Commissioner (OPC) announced the investigation late Monday, which comes after the office confirmed last week to Global News that it was “aware” of the incident and “engaged with the company,” IDScan.net, which was targeted by the attack.
The announcement from the office also marks the first time a Canadian agency has confirmed an active investigation into this cyber breach, and after the RCMP said last week that it was “monitoring” the situation” and remained “engaged with domestic and international law enforcement and cybersecurity partners as appropriate.”

- Description
- The U.S. president doubled down on his threat today to source more potash from Belarus.
The U.S. currently relies on potash from Saskatchewan for roughly 80 per cent of its agricultural needs — making it Canada’s largest customer.
“Belarus has a lot of Potash and our farmers need good prices and we want to get a lower price than Canada,” Trump said at the United Nations General Assembly Tuesday, “we'll continue to go with Canada, but Belarus would like to sell it for a much lower price.”
While stocks for Canadian companies like Nutrien fell yesterday, experts say Canada remains in a position of strength. For now, Belarus says its entire supply is already under contract to other customers.
Heather Youerx-West explains why.

Weeks ago, OpenAI announced it had cracked one of the toughest math problems – the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize problem. But some mathematicians disagree with how the AI did it. Meanwhile, others who were working on the problem accused OpenAI of stealing their work, which the company denies.
Many mathematicians say they have trouble understanding the 166-page manuscript drafted by AI and that it doesn’t teach humans much.
Nathaniel dove looks at the new fears of what artificial intelligence could cost us.

“They’re destroying our planet. We’re building more pipelines. We’re spending billions of dollars, instead of going for a greener economy… I’m here because I care for my children, our grandchildren and nature,” one demonstrator of the self-described “Climate Caravan” group said after being handcuffed by Parliament authorities.
After refusing to move away from the doors and trying to give demonstration materials to MPs, several were arrested for trespassing.
The so-called “Climate Caravan” was reportedly launched by beloved Canadian scientist and environmentalist David Suzuki.

- Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney committed $100 million in International Assistance to Palestine on Tuesday that included $80 million in "humanitarian aid, to alleviate immediate human suffering and $20 million to support peace and security capacity."
The Canadian PM made the commitment while holding a media availability with accredited Canadian media at the United Nations headquarters in New York City on Tuesday afternoon.
Asked if he had met with U.S. President Donald Trump, Carney said it was his strategy at the UNGA to meet as many leaders he doesn't usually see.
Asked about potash after Trump said he'd rather buy the commodity from Belarus at a lower price than Canada, Carney said, "there is a real opportunity... to cooperate and to become fertilizer-independent. So not just potash, but across all ammonia and other fertilizers. that would be good for Canadian farmers. It would be great for American farmers, and it's an opportunity we're...

Eby said "British Columbians need a say. They deserve a say in what happens next. You deserve a say in the kind of province we're going to build, a province that stands up for itself, or a province that folds to Donald Trump."
He also criticized the Conservative opposition, saying, "they want to import the MAGA style politics, the chaos of Donald Trump to British Columbia. They are not ambiguous about this."
Eby's government has made a flurry of announcements in recent days, with ministers bolstering investments in health care, an announcement to pause the provincial sales tax expansion and build new BC Ferries vessels in the province.
The expected election call comes as opposition Conservative MPs are racing to regroup after weeks of chaos, including the resignation of Conservative Leader Kerry-Lynne Fin...

- U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an agreement on Tuesday with Denmark and Greenland to strengthen security in the Arctic and North Atlantic.
The deal bolsters American military presence on the vast, icy island but keeps it under Danish control. In an earlier speech, Trump said the deal would allow the United States to build two military bases on the Arctic island.
“Your security is our security, and our security is your security. We are truly pleased with the result that strengthen our shared security and strengthen our bond as close allies,” Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said.
The agreement helps quell heightened tensions over Trump's repeated calls for Greenland to become part of the United States, which drove a wedge between the U.S. and its European allies.

In response, the Republican president wasn’t shy about making threats, revealing he has “a big decision to make” about whether he will “let them [Iran] rebuild and create a far greater country” or “drive them into hell with no chance of survival and no hope of future greatness for generations.”
Trump went a step further, calling on fellow UN member nations to join the U.S. in “complete economic isolation or Iran until they stop their attacks on commercial shipping, relinquish their nuclear ambitions, and cease their support of terror.”
