- The Court of Appeal has released its full judgment explaining why it upheld Gillian Balban's fraud convictions, describing the Crown's case as "powerful" and rejecting claims that she was denied a fair trial.
Published on the Court’s website, the 29 page document written by Appeal Judge Sir Nigel Davis says Balban has never accepted responsibility for the offences.
Instead, the judgement finds she has continued to blame her convictions on what she sees as the bank's failure to follow its own procedures and what she views are "vindictive " employees.
The judgement is clear though, saying - "it is not her opinion which ultimately counts, it is that of the jury"
The judgment provides the first detailed insight into the appeal judges' assessment of one of Gibraltar's most significant banking fraud cases.

No injuries were reported.
Most of the building's residents were evacuated by police soon after the fire broke out, including two people that were in the apartment where the fire started.
They were later able to return to their homes and surrounding roads reopened.

That’s an increase of almost 25% since February last year.
Now, the Government is proposing tougher laws.
Under new legislation expected to go before Parliament, offenders convicted of certain sexual offences and sentenced to more than a year in prison would have to serve at least 75% of their sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
Parole would not be automatic and would remain subject to approval.
The Justice Minister is also proposing a 40% increase in the maximum sentence for offences relating to indecent photographs of children.
“We have an obligation to protect our children,” says Justice Minister Nigel Feetham.
