- GibOil is investigating the potential contamination of one of its fuel tanks at its Winston Churchill Avenue service station.
The station was closed for a period yesterday while testing was carried out. GBC understands the issue is thought to have arisen from a fuel delivery. As a result, one of the pumps was identified and isolated.
The station has since reopened as normal, with work continuing to pump fuel out of the tank to access its sensors before pumping it back in.
Using CCTV footage, four vehicle owners who used the pump have been contacted.
Inquiries are ongoing.

- The Chief Minister says businesses and Customs are still adapting to the new Treaty customs arrangements three weeks after implementation.
Speaking on Gibraltar today, Fabian Picardo said some disruption had always been expected as new EU systems and procedures were introduced.
He added that freight movements are already improving, with more lorries crossing the frontier than on a typical day.
On the GFSB's flash poll, Mr Picardo said the findings did not challenge what the Government says is happening in Main Street.

Fabian Picardo told GBC a software issue has meant the e-gates are not able to process Gibraltar residents and EU citizens.
Because of this, Gibraltar residents coming home are having to go through checks with both the Gibraltar and Spanish authorities.
Mr Picardo said third country nationals - such as those from the UK - are able to use the e-gates after previously having gone through the European Entry-Exit System.

- A flash poll by the Federation of Small Businesses has found the majority of respondents have experienced a negative early impact from the Treaty.
Most respondents were from the retail sector.
Half said they had seen no noticeable change in overall sales and were feeling less optimistic about the future.
The main areas of concern were customs, freight and border-related disruption.

- The Government has completed the equalisation of the old age pension system.
As announced in the budget, the pensionable age for men was reduced from 65 to 60 - the same as it is for women.
Now, Number Six says, the contribution requirements used to determine entitlement to a pension have also been equalised.
The equalisation of old age pensions took effect on the 1st of July.
The Chief Minister says this had to be accompanied by a "fair and proportionate adjustment to the contributions required to qualify for a pension".
Fabian Picardo said, "It would not have been right to reduce the pensionable age while continuing to assess men against a 45-year contribution period".
Men will now require 2,000 paid or credited contributions over the course of their working lives to qualify for a full old age pension - down from 2,250 previously.

- Palestinian journalist and documentary filmmaker, Yousef Al-Helou has shown his latest feature, a Phoenix of Gaza, in Gibraltar following an invitation from local activist group, Gibraltar for Palestine.
Mr Al-Helou, who is from Gaza, was filming a documentary in 2023 at the time of Hamas’s terrorist attack in Israel. He continued to film the destruction in his country during the war that followed.
Mr Al-Helou says his sister and her seven children were killed during Israel’s bombing of Gaza and that he has not been able to retrieve their bodies.
He is currently touring internationally with the film, and was joined by Leah Levane, Co-chair of the organization Jewish voice for Liberation.

- One of Gibraltar's most iconic landmarks is opening its doors to the public.
The Europa Point Lighthouse, which has guided ships through the Strait for more than 180 years, is now offering guided tours, giving visitors the chance to explore its history while learning about its continuing role as a working lighthouse.
The site has also undergone its first major upgrade in decades, with facilities renovated to better welcome visitors.
More information on the tours is available through the Gibraltar Heritage Trust.
Katy Docker spoke to the Heritage Trust's CEO, Claire Montado, and Wright Tech's Managing Director, Christian Wright, who, together with Trinity House, the lighthouse's owner, have played key roles in its renovation.

Lieutenant General Sir Ben Bathurst says he is entirely satisfied that the arrangements on free movement in the Treaty will have no impact on military operations in Gibraltar, and this is something Spain has agreed to.
Sir Ben said it is therefore not true to suggest that the UK’s principal interest in Gibraltar was the naval base.

The Chamber met Government officials this week to discuss the problems and put forward suggestions to improve the flow of goods across the frontier.
Chamber President John Isola says that while there have been signs of progress since last week, businesses are still dealing with backlogs caused by new customs procedures, IT problems and delays on the Spanish side of the border.

- A Gibraltar law firm has been fined £50,000 for failing to comply with anti-money laundering obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Wilkinson Law Limited, trading as Strait Law, has been sanctioned by the Legal Services Regulatory Authority (LSRA), which identified six contraventions during an on-site inspection.
The firm's director, Richard Andrew Wilkinson, has been suspended from practising law for 12 months and banned from holding any managerial role for 18 months.

- An Inspector from His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary, Lee Freeman, has strongly advised the Police Governance Steering Group that elected politicians should have a say in police policy.
This has been confirmed by Governor, Sir Ben Bathurst, who says the Steering Group will be factoring in that view.
Sir Ben said it’s too early in the term of Commissioner Owain Richards to carry out an inspection, but confirmed that he asked Inspector Freeman to pay the Royal Gibraltar Police a visit and to advise the steering group.
HMIC independently assesses the effectiveness and efficiency of police forces and fire and rescue services in the public interest.
