The note was found and a friend of Hermann's rode 100 kilometres on a bike to recover the instrument from the musician's. Hermann's cello - identifiable by the engraving on its side: "Ego anima musicae sunt" ("I am the soul of music") - was sold twice after the war and experts lost track of it.

- Equality and non-discrimination are core EU values and fundamental rights enshrined in the Treaties and in the Charter of Fundamental Rights. However, research by the EU's Fundamental Rights Agency shows that discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, non-binary, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) people persists across the Union. In recent years, social acceptance of LGBTIQ people has declined in some European countries and around the world. Gaps remain in the EU's legislative framework for combatting discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and sexual characteristics. The Covid-19 pandemic also exacerbated existing inequalities.
In its resolution of 8 February 2024, the European Parliament called on the European Commission to ensure that the next LGBTIQ+ Equality Strategy (to be adopted in 2026) is driven by a more robust instrument, accompanied by a target-oriented implementation plan.
