- The European Citizens' Initiative "My Voice, My Choice: For Safe and Accessible Abortion" reached over 1 million validated signatures, which meets the threshold required under EU law to become a European Commission proposal and potentially a new law.
My Voice, My Choice wants to make women's lives safer, freer and better; wherever they live in the EU, and whatever conditions they may find themselves in. That's why they want to make abortion safe and accessible for all women in the EU.
The organisers of My Voice, My Choice will now present their initiative in the women's rights and gender equality committee with EU commissioner for equality Hadja Lahbib. Lina Galvez, chair of the women's rights and gender equality committee and Cristina Guarda, vice-chair of the committee on petitions will lead the hearing.

Members will debate the threats, after Lithuania closed its border crossings with Belarus at the end of October 2025. This was because authorities spotted smuggling balloons drifting from Belarus into Lithuanian airspace. Officials say the balloons threatened civil aviation and are part of an ongoing hybrid operation run by dictator Aliaksandr Lukashenka’s government.
The plenary debate with the Commission is also expected to mention a recent explosion on a railway line in Poland, which Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called “an unprecedented act of sabotage”.

- A growing number of children are navigating digital environments not designed for them. Considering the mental health risks and rising addiction to social media among children and adolescents, MEPs want to ban the most harmful addictive practices for minors. They also want the EU to act against persuasive technologies and practices such as targeted ads, influencer marketing, addictive design, loot boxes and dark patterns.
That’s why the Parliament’s committee on internal market and consumer protection (IMCO) has adopted a report with recommendations for safer digital environments for minors. The text proposes a common EU-wide minimum age threshold of 16 years for accessing social media platforms and the development of privacy preserving age assurance systems. During the debate, MEPs discuss this report; they are set to vote on it the next day (Wednesday 26 November).

During talks with EU countries, the European Parliament pushed for a “buy European” rule: to receive funding, defence products can have no more than 35% of their component costs coming from non-EU or non-associated countries.
The programme will also create a legal framework for European defence projects and establish a Ukraine Support Instrument (USI). Of the European Defence Industry programme's €1.5 billion budget, €300 million would go to the Ukraine Support Instrument to help modernise Ukraine’s defence industry and support its integration with Europe.

Drafted by Parliament’s civil liberties committee (LIBE), the text flags:
- Judicial interference and threats to judicial independence
- Corruption and misuse of EU funds
- Government pressure on civil society and independent actors
MEPs will also review the state of the Article 7 of the Treaty on European Union procedure against Hungary, warning that prolonged Council inaction since 2018 has allowed the situation to worsen. They call on the European Commission to explore new legal tools to better protect the rule of law and citizens’ rights.
This year, Hungary amended public assembly rules to allow bans on pro-LGBTIQ+ events under the Child Protection Act, enabling the ban of Budapest Pride 2025. After an April fact-finding visit, MEPs warned this violates ...

- Parliament discusses a “reparations loan” to fund Ukraine’s reconstruction and defence with Commission and Council representatives.
The EU is working on an ambitious initiative to unlock €185 billion in frozen Russian Central Bank assets. Announced by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen last month during her State of the Union speech as a “reparations loan”, the assets themselves would not be touched and Ukraine would only reimburse the loan once Russia pays reparations. Background
After Russia launched its full-scale illegal invasion of Ukraine, the international community prohibited all transactions involving assets and reserves from the Central Bank of Russia. As a result, €260 billion of these assets worldwide are currently “immobilised”, with more than two thirds (about €210 billion) in the EU. Depending on the interest rates, revenues from the...
