- The Green Party's Hannah Spencer has won the Gorton and Denton by-election, with 14,980 votes.
Spencer, a plumber by trade, beat Reform UK’s Matt Goodwin with 10,578 votes, and Labour’s Angeliki Stogia with 9,364 votes.
"Life has changed. Instead of working for a nice life, we're working to line the pockets of billionaires. We are being bled dry," Spencer said in her speech after the win.
The Greater Manchester constituency had long been considered a safe Labour seat, with the vote triggered by the resignation of former Labour MP Andrew Gwynne in January due to ill health.

- Historian and podcaster Dominic Sandbrook has warned of the impact people reading fewer works of fiction could have.
“Weirdly, I think reading books is an important element of democratic plural society because it reminds you there's more to life than your own experience," he told BBC Politics Live's presenter Vicki Young.
Sandbrook has just launched a new podcast called The Book Club, which he hopes will encourage people to read.
He was joined on the programme by Conservative peer Michael Gove, Labour MP Sarah Coombes and journalist and historian Taj Ali.

- A leading campaigner has warned of the dangers of social media for children but admits a ban for under-16s, in the wake of recent changes to Australian law, is "not a silver bullet."
Speaking to the BBC's Political Thinking, Baroness Kidron told Nick Robinson said "we are in a digital world, we have an AI future, and we can't uninvite the next generation."
"Access to children should be conditional," she adds.
The crossbench peer, who was an award-winning film director before joining the House of Lords, has become a leading voice in Parliament on online safety.
Last month the government launched a three-month consultation on banning social media for under-16s in the UK, after the world's first ban took effect in Australia last year.

- US President Donald Trump delivered his State of the Union address on Tuesday, during which he spoke at length about tackling illegal immigration.
On Politics Live, the panel discussed whether other countries could learn any lessons from the Trump administration’s approach.
Labour MP Bell Ribeiro-Addy argued that it “stirs up anti-immigration sentiment, which is bad for everybody".
“There is nothing we can learn from the [US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s] behaviour," she added.
Conservative peer Lord Mackinlay praised Trump’s record, saying: “On immigration, top marks for Donald Trump… he has delivered for the American people.”
Also joining Politics Live presenter Vicki Young was Harry Quilter-Pinner, the director of the centre left think tank, the IPPR.
