- A charity that supports domestic abuse victims of African and Caribbean heritage says 97% of its service users complain about the treatment they receive from police and government agencies.
Sistah Space released a video showing how black women are at an increased risk of being left at home with their abusers if responders lack the necessary training.
The Metropolitan Police said it was working with charities and other organisations to improve its knowledge of and response to reports of domestic violence from black women.

Laura and Steve Hughes's little boy Jesse died on 19 October 2019 in pregnancy. He was their second child, born after their son Charlie and before their daughter River.
Naomi and Ross Coniam's daughter Norah died on 29 May 2018. They've since had a little boy called Ernie.
Both couples will be lighting candles during Baby Loss Awareness Week to remember their children.

- Heavy rain caused flooding on the road leading to Tower Bridge after a yellow weather warning was issued by the Met Office on Tuesday. Vehicles were forced to drive through water on the north side of the Bridge and traffic disruption was caused in the area.
There were also delays in other parts of the city due to flooding, including Hendon Way near Cricklewood, north London. Parts of the capital experienced flash floods in July. with some areas receiving a month of rain in one day.

- Ceinwen Giles was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, six weeks after her daughter was born prematurely in 2010. But due to her treatment causing an immunity deficiency, she has been shielding from Covid-19 at home in Lewisham, south London.
Along with others who have had a cancer diagnosis, she has shared her story with The Opera Makers, who created a performance inspired by their experiences. Since Ceinwen couldn't visit the theatre, the cast brought the opera to her garden.
Hopes and Fears is being performed at the Arcola Theatre in Hackney from 1-4 September 2021.

But they were left feeling "crushed" when they were turned away by two eateries, who claimed they could not bring their guide dogs in - despite it being illegal under the Equality Act.
Siobhan, who works for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, said the experience left her feeling like a "second-class citizen". The two restaurants, Jollibee and Little Italy, have both since apologised to Siobhan and Sean, who is a BBC journalist.

He set up two groups which aim to raise awareness about baby loss and tackle mental health issues after losing a child.
Ross has raised more than £65,000 by organising walks and events for both campaign groups. The money has been donated to mental health and baby loss charities.
In July 2021 Ross walked 185 miles along the River Thames to encourage a community of openness with baby loss.

- Daniel Sartain-Clarke, who became the "poster boy" for the London riots, says he "wouldn't be here now" without his youth worker Andy. He was jailed for 11 months after being caught in a looted Currys electronic shop in Clapham Junction.
While in prison, Mr Sartain-Clarke said his youth worker was his only visitor. "He was writing letters. I didn't have that from anyone else," he said. "He taught me that I could trust again.
"He definitely helped in a sense of me knowing where I am now and where I am today."

Both Trevor Reeves and Bushra Ahmed had their businesses set on fire in Croydon.
Ten years on, they've been speaking about how that night affected them and their families, but also what they've learned from their experiences.

- The BBC has obtained exclusive evidence that special education needs (SEN) support placements significantly drop post the age of 16 for students with SEN across London.
FOI data shows that more than 13,000 SEN placements were offered to under 16s in 2019-2021. But for 16-25 year olds 2,508 placements were given in that time.
Claude, 23, from Richmond upon Thames, has been out of education since 2017, after not being granted an appropriate placement by his local education authority.
After years of tribunals with his LEA and emails to the Department for Education, Claude has now created a petition called 'Claude's SEN Law'. He wants to ensure other young people across the UK don't go through what he has.

- A five-year-old Norfolk terrier ended up taking an unexpected journey from London to Kent when he boarded an old double-decker wedding bus by accident.
It’s believed Chip thought his owner was on the bus when it left a wedding venue in Ham, south London.
The dog chased after the old routemaster before boarding and travelling for over two hours to Goudhurst in Kent.

- Doctors at Kings College Hospital have urged Londoners to get vaccinated following a rise in Covid patients needing treatment.
Aaron Bye, 33, had put off getting jabbed when he caught coronavirus and went on to develop blood clots on his lungs.
"I'm very active, I'm surprised that I'm here. It's very scary," he said. "When I'm feeling stronger I'll get booked in."
Staff at the south London hospital say rising Covid cases and an increase in other respiratory viruses in children is putting already overwhelmed staff under even more pressure.

- As Covid cases surge, the spotlight is once again on key workers who have kept the UK going throughout the pandemic.
Many are immigrants, including Ernesta Nat Cole, who's from Equatorial Guinea.
She works as a cleaner at a London hospital and has been fighting to secure basic workers' rights for her colleagues.
Her employer, private company ISS, told the BBC it offered competitive levels of pay in line with industry and government standards and greatly valued its employees and their work.

The community on the Kirby Estate in Bermondsey came together to watch the game.
Chris Dowse, a resident on the estate, said: "They got to the final, England still did us proud."

Black people are four times more likely to be reported missing but are the focus of disproportionately few public appeals, figures show.
Charity Missing People says many black families feel their missing loved ones are not seen as a high enough priority.
It has now launched a survey in order to report experiences back to police.

- Volunteers from the health and first aid charity, St John Ambulance, have given more than one million hours caring for people during the coronavirus pandemic.
Since March 2020 this has consisted of volunteers helping in hospitals, providing emergency ambulance crews responding to 999 calls, providing community services and supporting the NHS COVID-19 vaccination programme.
The charity has also seen a 56% increase in staff hours during this time.

- England supporters gathered across London to see the Euro 2020 final, packing out pubs and the fan zone at Trafalgar Square. Thousands were watching across the capital, only to witness the Three Lions lose to Italy on penalties.
Their heartbreak - and the jubilation of the Italian fans - was evident on the streets of London after the final whistle. "I cannot tell you have devastated I am," one fan told the BBC.
The woman, who did not want to be named, said: "It was amazing watching the game but I'm heartbroken."
