Description: 21-year-old Whitney says a difficult upbringing led her to become involved in crime, and she began drug-dealing, carrying a knife to protect herself. On the inside, she says she saw women 'come in, go out and come in again' in a cycle of repeat offending.

Women serving shorter prison sentences have a reoffending rate of 70%, according to the Prison Reform Trust. But Whitney was determined not to go back to crime after leaving prison, and discovered boxing as a way to 'channel my energy somewhere else'.

"When it comes women with convictions, they're pushed to 'conventional jobs', like hairdressing," Whitney says. "I don't think we push women enough out of their comfort zones."

Doctors said she would "likely be in a vegetative state" and her chances of walking were "near impossible".

Recently she and her parents were inspired by Captain Tom Moore walking laps around his garden, so decided to start the fundraiser and wear different colours of the rainbow every day.

Her parents say they have since made a nice curry with the expensive onions.

The group are delivering their finished products to the new Lewisham Covid ward, Kings, St George’s, hospices, Trinity Hospice and St Christopher’s Hospice.

Description: A doctor at Queen’s hospital has demonstrated a breathing technique to help coronavirus patients with respiratory symptoms. Dr Sarfaraz Munshi initially recorded the video for his friends and family, but it went viral after being posted YouTube, reaching more than 3M views.

The technique involves taking five deep breaths in, holding your breath each time for five seconds. On the sixth deep breath, do a big cough. Repeat that cycle once. Then, lay flat on your front and breath slightly deeper for then minutes.

There is no scientific evidence to suggest this technique helps coronavirus patients, but it is recommended by the Director of Nursing at Queen’s Hospital.

Author JK Rowing tweeted that the video helped her recover after she displayed symptoms of Covid-19.

Description: Nine-year-old Sophie from Lewisham was set the task to write a poem at school so she decided to write one for the NHS staff to thank them for their work throughout coronavirus.

Sophie has spent her time in lockdown painting rainbows and writing for the NHS. She is aiming to inspire positivity in young people throughout this period.

Sophie said: “It’s very important that we stay positive because we really need to get through this virus and the whole world needs to work as a team.”
