China has for the first time released launch footage of its DF-17 hypersonic missile, ahead of the U.S.-led Rim of the Pacific Exercise.
Footage released by CCTV's military program on Saturday showed a joint military exercise in China's Gobi Desert, including the launch of a DF-17 missile.
A Chinese military commentator told CCTV that this is the first time state media has aired footage of a DF-17 launch, calling it a sign of the high level of operational readiness of the Chinese military's tactical missile branch, Rocket Force.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said Monday that two vessels waiting inside the strait had safely transited the waterway.
Details of how the vessels made it through the passage have not been disclosed.
The ministry said the ships have yet to fully clear the high-risk zone, with neither carrying Korean crew members nor heading to Korea.
