- Perspective: Freeway Ricky Ross. Hosted by Marcus Atkinson. A WQLN TV Production.
Aired Thursday, November 12th at 8pm.
We spoke with former drug kingpin “Freeway” Rick Ross, who - in the 80's - moved to the top of the drug dealing chain to work directly with suppliers, including Nicaraguan drug trafficker Oscar Danilo Blandón Reyes. Blandón, in turn used the money Ross provided him to fund his Contra rallies against the Nicaraguan Sandinista rulers. Blandon's ties to the CIA were part of the most well known political scandals of the 80s - the Iran Contra Scandal - where the federal government allegedly pushed drugs into urban neighborhoods to fund the overthrow of the Sandinista government.
Now an entrepreneur, speaker, and advocate of issues of education and literacy, Ross has written a book "Freeway Rick Ross: The Untold Autobiography".
