- Baltimore is on track to see historic drops in homicides this year with community groups playing a key role in violence prevention efforts. Homicides in the city are down 23% compared to this time last year, which saw the lowest number of homicides in about 50 years. So far in 2026, Baltimore has recorded 40 homicides compared to 53 at this time last year, and 121 nonfatal shootings compared to 123 last year. The city finished May with eight homicides, marking the first single-digit May homicide count in more than five decades, according to the mayor.

- A man was injured after an apparent explosion Tuesday afternoon near Annapolis, Anne Arundel County fire officials told WBAL-TV 11 News. County fire officials said firefighters were called around 2 p.m. to a house in the 3000 block of Friends Road off Cape St. John Road along the South River for a fire. When crews arrived, they found no sign of fire, officials said. Instead, they found a man suffering from injuries from some type of an explosion. The exact nature of the explosion was not immediately known. The man was flown to a hospital in critical condition.

- Baltimore County police arrested a Timonium man after an alleged confrontation and assault in which he's accused of flashing a gun in Cockeysville. Imtiaz Sami, 39, was arrested and charged with assault and a gun offense stemming from an incident on May 31 in the 2400 block of Burlwood Road, according to police. Police said officers arrived shortly before 6 p.m. and were told that Sami allegedly pointed a gun at the victim before fleeing. Police said investigators were captured and arrested Sami a short time later. He remains held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

- Police continue to search for a suspect after a 10-year-old boy was shot and killed in Salisbury in 2024. The FBI is now offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest. Tyron Colbert Jr. was shot and killed on Aug. 5, 2024, in a house on Clay Street and later died at a hospital. Authorities believe Tyron was inside the home with his mother and two other young children at the time of the shooting, police said.
