Because human models are depressingly boring, we instead commissioned the wonderful little pups from our "Doggy District" fashion spread to sashay down the catwalk ("dogwalk" just sounds dumb no matter what) at Westway. It was a hoot. Or a ruff. Whatever. We put together a short video of the event, which you should definitely watch if you like fun, dogs, and clothing.

The Girl & Anti-Hero guys wake up after a night of drinking, fighting, and slur-hurling, and attempt to ready themselves for a hard day's work. - Description
- After weeks of watching Girl & Anti-Hero roll around sparsely populated skate parks, drink, camp, and generally fuck around, it's nice to finally see the teams do some real tour work. Of course, by "work," I mean more skateboarding, but this time with a larger crowd.
At a demo for the two skate teams in Portland, Girl's Eric Koston lands a trick that renders him momentarily Christ-like to a crowd of middle school boys. Julien Stranger, Max Schaff and Rick Howard remark on how fast their little skater, Robbie Russo, is growing up as he signs autographs at his first demo.

- Description
- What would an Epicly Later'd series be without a little history lesson? After the first demo in Portland, we stopped at Burnside on the way out of town for what seemed to be a quick session. What it turned into was Rick McCrank getting three amazing tricks and a chance to talk to Julien Stranger and John Cardiel about their Fucktard era excursions to Burnside. All the Super 8 footage in this episode was from Tobin Yelland's archives from time he spent filming with the Deluxe guys. Some of the footage you may already have seen, but a good portion of it never made it into any videos. We also had a chance to speak with Pat Quirk about Burnside's early days and how it affected Portland's scene. If you loved Non-Fiction, Ride On, the Spitfire Video, and Fucktards, this episode is kinda perfect.

- Description
- At the second of three demos, Girl & Anti-Hero skate the Orcas Island Park: Grindline designed, Dreamland poured. In a surprise turn of events, the magical ceremony performed on the demo's eve between skaters and wizard sticks seems to be working against them on the concrete. It's almost as though drinking one's height in beer may not be an excellent, mystical method of preparation for a skateboarding demo. Mike Carroll is among the first to note this bizarre relationship between his wizard status and powers on the board. Keegan Sauder makes a surprise appearance and attempts to judge the relative Canadianess of fellow skaters Rick Howard and Rick McCrank, and the latter Rick narrowly avoids having the worst time ever with Eric Koston. After the demo, new levels of wizardry are achieved at a house party, this time without sticks, as someone's head magically goes through a window and an inflatable beer can vanishes without a trace! The magic continues into the next day as Mike Carroll d...

- There were rumors that the Beauty and the Beast tour would carry on forever, ending only when the last skater fell off the mortal coil. Unfortunately, those rumors were untrue and now we find ourselves at the tenth and final installment of our journey out West with Girl and Anti-Hero. But, at this point, doesn't it feel a little strange to divide this group of men with two labels? It's plain to see that, not unlike a two-part Voltron, they've coalesced into a single super team. Going around the scene of the final demo, our reporters collect votes for tour MVP with little consensus emerging beyond the fact that Mike Carroll was "most likely to be drunk at any given moment." Surveying the local skaters, Brian Anderson announces a second superlative: "kid with the most fucked up board," to whom he bestows a gift. And with that heartwarming moment, we end this chapter of Epicly Later'd.

While the express intention of the statement is usually not-so-supportive, we think it's a healthy reminder that at the end of the day, we are all basically professional emailers and should be thankful for such. The wildland firefighters who work for Grayback Forestry in Southern Oregon have no such motivational adages because their job is actually digging ditches. Around active forest fires. On the sides of mountains. You can't even bitch at these guys for having cushy government pensions to fall back on when they get older, because they're all private-sector contractors. Which means if they aren't out fighting forest fires or doing preventative forestry on unburned woods (basically extreme landscaping), they are losing money. They are literally the hardest working men in tree business. We spent a few days following a crew of Grayback forest-firefighters walk up the sides of w...

- Part 1 of Dylan's series was a lot of fun to make. I would say that I pride myself on knowing quite bit about skateboarding, but I was almost completely unaware of his presence in this video until I heard Dylan mention he was in it. Dylan already has a history. He is an old school Cali skater, he came up through CASL contests, he can rip parks and street at the same level, and has the video coverage to prove it. Dylan is the most exciting skater out right now, hands down. That is a pretty bold statement, but it is based on Jim Thiebaud's face. Now Jim has probably seen some of the some of the craziest and most innovative skating in the past 25 years. He hosted probably the greatest contest of all time, and has overseen teams with guys like Cardiel, the Gonz, and Busenitz. So when he makes a face like this after seeing someone do a singular trick, you know he's got it.

There's nothing better than watching newborn animals curiously explore the world around them. How can your eyes not be glued to all the digging, pouncing, sniffing, falling, and those wide eyes that are too big for their heads. So you can only imagine what it was like when we made friends with a few baby snow leopards in Germany—they were like kittens on special steroids that multiply cuddleability by a factor of 10. The pudgy furballs love nothing more than to go on mini adventures in their playground at Magdeburg Zoo, and not even their mother was able to curb their curious mischievousness. We saw them nudge around a soccer ball, dip their huge, snowshoe-like paws into bowls of water, and tinkle on the clinic floor (somehow even that was cute).
