- If you've ever visited the Shelburne Museum than you know it's a museum like no others. Best described by one of the curators as a collection of collections. One of the newest exhibits, housed in the Beach Gallery, is called Lock, Stock and Barrel: The Terry Tyler Collection of Vermont Firearms. No one knows this exhibit of Vermont made guns better than Terry Tyler, who began his collection back in the 1960's.

- Close to four dozen baby spiny softshell turtles were collected last autumn by Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department Biologist Steve Parren. They over-wintered at ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center, at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain under the care of ECHO's Animal Care staff. In late June a group of volunteers and staff released the turtles back into Lake Champlain. This marks the seventh year of this important animal preservation program.

- New England is home to hundreds if not thousands of summer camps every year. But if you're looking for a camp that specializes in fly-fishing they are few and far between. In 2011 the Mad Dog chapter of Trout Unlimited launched its first fly-fishing camp for teens. Since then they've been spawning a new school of enthusiastic fly fishermen and women every summer.

- Steam Mill Brook Wildlife Management Area is the second largest Wildlife Management Area in the state. It's about roughly 10,800 acres. Most of the WMA is located in the towns of Walden and Stannard but the property also trickles into Danville and Wheelock.

After working at well-established dealerships around the state but dissatisfied with working in traditional male-dominated garages, she took the leap and opened her own shop in South Burlington with the help of her business partner and mother, Donna. Girlington Garage offers free car care clinics to educate and empower car owners and prides itself on its transparency of service and sensitivity to the needs of female car owners who may feel intimidated by mainstream garages. Although her garage is not completely all-female due to a lack of skilled female technicians, Girlington Garage is going strong with plans to open a second shop.
