Community concerns increased recently after a sailing coach at the Traverse Area Community Sailing program said he was assaulted by someone camping at Hull Park.
Hull Park is an area where some experiencing homelessness gather and now, with an increasing number of complaints, city commissioners are taking action.
The two ordinances focus on prowling and trespassing.

Nighttime prowling is defined as "willfully lurking about, lying in wait or moving stealthily about private property as if in search of prey or plunder."
If someone is reported for prowling and they leave before police arrive, they can still face charges.

- Three Presque Isle County brothers turned a problem with their lemonade stand into a push to change Michigan law.
The Mielke brothers learned they needed a local health department license to continue selling lemonade at the Rogers City Farmers Market.
They say the fee increased to $64 every two weeks this year.
Their experience helped inspire House Bill 6007, which would allow qualifying minors to sell lemonade without a license, permit or registration fee.
The bill passed the Michigan House, and the brothers have since testified before a Senate committee.
Here’s how a Northern Michigan lemonade stand ended up making its way to Lansing.

- A 28-year-old Copemish man faces three felony charges after Michigan State Police say a stolen front-end loader's GPS tracker led troopers about 17 miles from an Interlochen construction site to Manistee County.
Justin Greenwood was arraigned Thursday in Grand Traverse County's 86th District Court on charges of larceny of $20,000 or more, malicious destruction of personal property of $20,000 or more and unlawful driving away of an automobile.
MSP said the front-end loader was stolen from a construction site on Lyon Road in Interlochen during the early morning hours of Sept. 29.
Investigators used a GPS tracker on the loader to locate it about 17 miles away in Manistee County. Police said it had been backed into a wooded area and concealed by trees.
Motor carrier officers and troopers from the MSP Traverse City Post followed footprints from the area to a seasonal home.

- GoGo squeeZ has completed an $11 million expansion of its Grand Traverse County plant, adding space and new equipment that the company says uses 22 percent less water.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held yesterday at the plant near Traverse City, followed by a tour.
The expansion brought on more space.
New equipment was used to wash and move the apples.
We're told it uses 22 percent less water than before.
This facility can produce up to 1.7 million pouches daily, with around 80 percent of all apples from Michigan.
The company's goal is to fight for healthier snacking.
