- It was the first radio available in cars. AM became the staple for en route entertainment and information.
Recently, automakers have been pushing to stop offering the feature in new cars.
The reason for the push is surprising to some, as is the reaction from lawmakers in Washington.
"Mr. President, I rise today in support of free speech and in support of AM Radio,” said Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. “AM Radio is something that is widely enjoyed by Americans across this country. Over 80 million Americans listen to AM Radio every month. They rely on it."
But finding that AM radio in new cars, especially EV’s, may be a little more challenging in the years to come.
"Earlier this year we saw eight major automakers announce that they were stripping AM Radio from new cars and new trucks, taking away the option of AM Radio for consumers,” said Cruz. “That decision, I believe, was a serious mistake."

The former congressman joined members of the Chaldean and Albanian communities in Shelby Township, whose families came to the U.S. for a better life.
Each shared stories of their families' journeys and criticizing El-Sayed.
"Living in Albania, my dad lived under harsh, tough conditions," Albanian-American businessman Mark Gjokaj recounted. "His sister lived only 25 miles away on either side of the border, and he was deprived of visiting his sister for 38 years. This is what big government brings. This is what communism brings you.
