- The Middle East conflict has reached "a moment of grave peril," UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher warned, cautioning that crises are escalating beyond the control of those who started them.
Tom Fletcher, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, told reporters in New York that the region's overlapping emergencies were becoming dangerously interlinked, fueled by what he described as “staggering amounts of money, reportedly a billion dollars a day, funding this war spent on destruction.”

- The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) is alarmed by surging violence in Abiemnom, Ruweng Administrative Area, in the past 48 hours.
According to UNMISS, a group of armed youth stormed the Abiemnom county headquarters on Sunday morning, wounding at least 23 people. As tensions spiralled, peacekeepers opened their gates and are now sheltering more than 1,000 civilians inside their base, while providing emergency medical care for the injured.
The Mission is gravely concerned by reports that dozens of civilians, along with local officials, may have been killed in the clashes. We call on all parties to halt the violence immediately and resolve this through dialogue. - The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Cuba, Francisco Pichon, told reporters in New York that one month since United States President Donald Trump issued an executive order that created “a fuel blockade for Cuba,” its humanitarian consequences are “deepening by the day.”
Pichon said, “hat we see on the ground is not a temporary shortage, it is a more systemic energy shock that has become the primary humanitarian risk multiplier.”

The UN remains deeply concerned by the escalating harm to civilians as fighting intensifies in North Darfur State.
The International Organization for Migration tells us that nearly 2,700 people were displaced following attacks on Misteriya town in the locality of Kebkabiya in recent days. A local organization, the Sudan Doctors Network, says that 28 civilians were killed and 39 others were injured in these attacks.
We call again for the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure and for the parties to the conflict to adhere to their obligations under international humanitarian law.
