- "He was just like our dad", this was the common message as mourners gathered for the funeral service of the late Prince David Kijanangoma Mugabe.
The late Mugabe was a son of the late Prince Christopher Paul Kijanangoma , father to the new Omukama of Tooro, Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma Nyabongo the first.
He died of throat cancer, just days after his brother was named to replace Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

The Federation's representatives highlighted that despite international pledges and recent progress in census data collection, tens of thousands of hard of hearing Ugandans remain sidelined due to unfulfilled government promises, systemic policy gaps, and widespread societal misunderstandings.
Acknowledging recent statistical milestones, UFHOH pointed to the 2024 National Population and Housing Census conducted by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), which for the first time provided disaggregated disability data. According to the UBOS final report, 5.5 million Ugandans have a disability, with 273,167 citizens specifically identified as hard of hearing

The hospital is equipped with state of the art equipment capable of testing for and detecting different types of cancer.
Defence Minister Kiryowa Kiwanuka says about 200 million shillings is required to establish cancer and heart treatment facilities.
The Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Internal Affairs toured the hospital to assess the progress of the works.

- Uganda has made progress in the fight against HIV, with new infections and AIDS-related deaths declining over the years.
However, health authorities warn that the country cannot afford to lower its guard.
Uganda recorded about 36,648 new HIV infections in 2024, down from more than 96,000 in 2010.
But the epidemic remains unevenly distributed, with some regions and urban centres recording high numbers of new infections. Kampala and the surrounding central region remain areas of concern.
Between July 2025 and June 2026, about 649,570 people were tested for HIV through health facilities in Kampala. An average of 211 new HIV-positive diagnoses was reported every week. This is about 30 positive diagnoses every day.
