Tigers at The Wildheart Sanctuary in the Isle of Wight were delivered a giant ‘Tiger Tombola’ toy this week after the Sanctuary used Airtasker, the trusted community marketplace for local services, to find a local toy maker.
Measuring 1.3m x 1.4m, the Tombola was crafted by local carpentry expert, Alastair Nye, and took eight members of the British Royal Navy to install it for the tigers.

Oceana’s campaigners were joined by award-winning chef and climate change activist, Tom Hunt, outside Parliament to demand that the Government set sustainable fishing limits in line with science and end the depletion of UK fish stocks. The action showed an animation projected on the Houses of Parliament of cod, mackerel and other sea life being scooped by a fishing boat.
The timely protest comes as UK negotiations with the EU and other third parties are currently in session, with 2022 catch limits for each shared fish stock due to be decided by December, in time for the new year. The health of UK fish stocks largely depends on the outcome of these negotiations.

- The UK’s first ever wind farm is celebrating its 30th birthday as the COP26 climate conference opens in Glasgow.
To mark the occasion, renewable energy company Good Energy commissioned renowned artist Luke Jerram to create an experimental light projection.
The piece, which features moving images depicting nature, messages to world leaders and audio of children’s voices, was projected onto a wind turbine at Delabole, the birthplace of UK renewables.
Over 150 residents of the village came to see the artwork in and celebrate the anniversary of the wind farm which was originally built by the Edwards family 30 years ago.
Good Energy, which owns and operates the wind farm, commissioned the project to inspire world leaders on the eve of the hugely important climate conference.

Today, a unique artistic collaboration has been launched from the West Midlands, home of this year’s UK City of Culture and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
To coincide with the launch of the Birmingham 2022 official Queen’s Baton Relay, West-Midlands cultural icon and spoken word artist Amerah Saleh has launched ‘The Relaytionship’. A relay of words, powered by the people of the Commonwealth.
As the Queen’s Baton traverses 72 countries in 294 days, so too will ‘The Relaytionship’ inviting individuals from every corner of the Commonwealth to contribute their own unique words to the piece. The words gathered will be used to create a unique piece of ‘hyper hybrid art’ created by Coventry based audio visual artist Tommy Xiao Ji in collaboration with Amerah Saleh to be revealed during Birmingham 2022.

- The Royal Mint, the original maker of UK coins, in collaboration with Historic Royal Palaces, has unveiled a new range of collectable and bullion coins celebrating The Royal Tudor Beasts - the ten heraldic creatures chosen by King Henry VIII.
The first coin in the collection, the Seymour Panther, was unveiled at Hampton Court Palace – where the original Royal Beasts still welcome visitors today.
The collection has been designed by artist David Lawrence and each design is a unique balance of the naturalistic elements of the beasts with a stylised, heraldic depiction incorporated into the design.
The Royal Tudor Beasts collection will be released over five years, with customers able to build their very own collection celebrating the ten beasts that line the Moat Bridge of Hampton Court Palace. The Seymour Panther was a heraldic symbol belonging to Jane Seymour, Henry VIII’s third wife.

- The Royal Mint, the Original Maker of UK coins, has today launched a new range of collectable coins celebrating the iconic British band – The Who. To celebrate the launch of the coin, co-founder and lead singer of The Who, Roger Daltrey, visited The Royal Mint to strike one of the very first coins, giving the band’s seal of approval on the new coin and its design.
The Who collectable coin is the fourth in The Royal Mint’s ‘Music Legends’ series, and follows coins in honour of Queen, Elton John and David Bowie. The coin’s dynamic design includes some of the most iconic symbols from the band’s live and loud performances – including a union flag, Mod logo and speaker-smashing Rickenbacker guitar. Together, the symbols on the coin form a pinball table, a nod to the single Pinball Wizard and album Tommy, one of the band’s most famous creations. - Renewable electricity provider E.ON1 is revealing a dramatic 16-foot ice sculpture entitled ‘Cooling the capital’ to coincide with the announcement of a new £4 million zero carbon heating and cooling system for its existing City of London energy network.
Taller than a double decker bus, the giant ice sculpture stands on Charterhouse Square and highlights how the new heat pumps at E.ON’s nearby Citigen site will further improve upon the energy network already serving the City of London district – from the Guildhall to the Barbican. The energy network covers more than 10 miles of underground pipes and provides both heating and cooling.

- The arresting installation has been erected following research showing that the G7 nations alone produce almost 15.9 million tonnes of e-waste a year, with the US (6.9m), Japan (2.6m), Germany (1.6m) and UK (1.6m) being the worst offenders. In fact, in 2019 the UK produced 23.9kg per capita annually - that’s the second highest waste electrical and electronic equipment per capita in the world.
According to the UN, the current 53 million tonnes of e-waste generated annually worldwide will more than double by 2050, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the world.

Stunning property was the star prize in fundraising platform Omaze’s campaign which raised £500,000 for The Prince’s Trust.
The house, which is valued at over £2.5m, is newly-built and features all mod-cons, while still using traditional Georgian-style Cotswold stone materials. It’s set in 2.3 acres of sought-after Cotswolds countryside, close to the Cotswolds National Park.
The family moved to the UK five years ago from Johannesburg, South Africa and currently live in a 3-bedroom detached house in Bath.

- Half of British drivers (50%) say they’d like to help the planet by switching to an electric vehicle, but more education on the benefit of EVs is needed to give confidence, say industry experts.
To mark Clean Air Day, new research by Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) shows UK drivers understand how switching to an EV can help the planet – with 78% saying it’ll hurt the environment if they don’t give up petrol and diesel cars.
But 59% think the current average cost1 needs to fall by at least £15,000. Plus, with the majority of new cars being bought on finance, the monthly repayments on an average EV need to drop by more than £2012.
However, with the government due to ban sales of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030, more than one in three motorists (36%) in the UK think it’ll take at least another decade, until 2040, before most cars on British roads are electric.

- Canary Wharf will be taking delivery of two floating pavilions, designed by Glenn Howells Architects.
They’ll be put into position in the docks of Canary Wharf’s new district, Wood Wharf, on Monday
12th and Tuesday 13th April, and will coincide with the week non-essential retail, bars and restaurants
reopen.
One of the aqua based constructs will be home to a new flagship restaurant for The London Project
by the end of the year. The pavilion roofs are decorated with blankets of mixed wildflowers and
grasses that encourage visits from insects and birds and contributes towards carbon capture. Using
these materials is key to Canary Wharf’s wider environmental initiatives that ensure the Wood
Wharf development is on target to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.

The wooden arches of the secret-garden style installation were dressed with a variety of flora and shrubbery, that were delivered by FREE NOW black cabs and PHVs, and stood out against the concrete backdrop of Hackney, East London, adding a temporary green space for residents to enjoy and connect with.
