- At 27.46 inches tall, 24 year old Edward Niño Hernandez from Bogota has today been confirmed as the World's Shortest Man (Monday 6 September). Guinness World Records awarded the record after months of searching for a new title holder following the sudden death of He Ping Ping in March this year who had previously held the record for more than 3 years.
Hernandez is 1.5 inches shorter than Ping Ping and weighs just 10 kilos (22 pounds). However, he doesn't know why he's so small because Doctors have never given him a diagnosis. According to his mother, he hasn't grown since he was 2 years old.
In his daily life, Eduardo helps out with the family's pyjama-making business, loves to dance the popular Latin American 'reggaeton' and dreams of seeing the world. Now, the diminutive Colombian takes his place in the chronicles of history with one of the highest profile record titles. - Only 21 miles or so separate us Brits from those French, but our views of each other are still worlds apart, according to TheMeganeExperiment.com Yougov poll (Thursday 5th August 2010). That's despite France being the top holiday spot for British holidaymakers.
Coming top of the poll, what really niggles us about the French is that they're not very friendly, consider themselves culturally superior and are "bad at war"! While the French think we're terrible at cooking, love and that we eat too much.
And it doesn't stop there. A quarter of Brits think going on strike makes the French happy while they think we're most content watching the footy with mates and banging on about great British historic achievements.

- Today a 122,000 tonne cruise-ship, built for nearly 3,000 guests, has successfully navigated through a gate that is less than 40 metres wide (131-foot-wide) as she leaves her dock in Papenburg, Germany for the first time before heading to the UK. Even the slightest change in weather could have cause thousands of pounds worth of damage to the $750 million (£500 million) ship.
The conveyance - as its officially known - is a rite of passage for this ship, where the ship has to squeeze through the shipyard entrance. At the tightest points of the journey, there are as few as TWO FEET between the locks and each side of the 36 metre wide, 317 metre long (1,040-foot-long), Celebrity Eclipse. She and her sister ships Celebrity Equinox and Celebrity Solstice are the largest ever to sail down the German river.
