In an exclusive hourlong interview with Cedar City News, Dean Englestead shared the details of the April 7 incident, which left him and the four passengers aboard with minor to serious injuries.

- “It’s a grief support program for kids ages 3 to 18 who have experienced the death of a loved one,” The Sharing Place Washington County Director Heather Lundgren told St. George News. “And we don’t put a parameter on who that loved one is. For most of our kids, it’s a mom or dad or brother or sister, but it could be a special friend or cousin.”
The organization has long served families in Utah, but its new location in downtown Santa Clara marks its first expansion into Southern Utah. As a nonprofit, The Sharing Place provides all its services to families at no cost. - Flames were reported inside a St. George apartment unit Wednesday, displacing residents and prompting an emergency response that kept the fire from spreading beyond a single unit.
“We had a structure fire inside a residence where one of the ventilation fans in one of the bedrooms overheated, went into the attic space and got into some of that space over two of the bedrooms,” said Brett Remund, fire marshal with the city of St. George and the St. George Fire Department.

Police were able to call the woman who lives with Hansen, and she was able to exit the home, according to a police report filed in support of the arrest.

- Citizens of Washington City gathered at Veteran’s Park on the morning of Independence Day for the unveiling of a statue honoring the late Quentin Nisson, also known as “Mr. Washington.”
The statue, which was sculpted by local artist Jerry Anderson, was unveiled through a ceremony with friends and family of the late Nisson in attendance to celebrate the life of the former Washington mayor.

Following the plea, five counts of burglary of a dwelling, three counts of tampering with a witness and one count of criminal trespass were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

St. George Fire Chief Robert Stoker told St. George News a homeowner off Dixie Drive reported a fire just before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. The caller reported seeing smoke and flames in the attic.

- A garage fire in St. George was quickly doused Wednesday after a homeowner and firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading.
St. George Fire Department Chief Robert Stoker told reporters that the department responded to a 911 call about a garage fire at approximately 1:40 p.m. on the 1300 West block of Indian Hills Drive.
