It claims it sets a terrible precedent of a state overriding the burial rights and wishes of widows, where the deceased is a former president.
They say the August 2025 judgment ruled in favour of the Zambian government in the protracted battle over the remains of the late former statesman, and found that Zambia is entitled to repatriate Lungu's remains for the purposes of a state funeral and burial.
This is contrary to the Lungu family's wishes to have him buried in South Africa, and NOT his homeland of Zambia.

- The Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Leon Schreiber, together with the Commissioner of the Border Management Authority, Dr Michael Masiapato, are addressing members of the media following the historic interception of a drug consignment valued at nearly R1 billion at the Beitbridge Port of Entry.
The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 713 000 grams of methaqualone, commonly used in the manufacture of mandrax, hidden inside a truck intercepted at the port of entry.
Three suspects were arrested and further investigations are underway.
