- A prominent official of the All Truck Driver Forum of South Africa has been arrested together with two truck drivers on charges of incitement to violence on the N3 near Bergville in KwaZulu-Natal.
The ATDFSA has called for a national shutdown today, protesting the continued employment of foreign nationals as truck drivers.
Police spokesperson - Colonel Robert Netshiunda - says a police patrol spotted a group of about ten people at a bakkie next to the side of the road in the early hours of this morning.
The group fled when the police approached.
The arrests were made when two truck drivers approached the area in a car to pick up the forum's office bearer - whose bakkie was abandoned.
Netshiunda says it is possible that this group could be linked to the stoning of a truck near the Colenso interchange a short while earlier.

- KZN Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has been named the 2025 Newsmaker of the Year at the National Press Club and Unisa's 2025 Journalists of the Year Awards in Pretoria.
On July 6, 2025, Mkhwanazi held an explosive media briefing in Durban where he exposed the alleged infiltration of South Africa's law enforcement, intelligence, and justice systems by sophisticated criminal networks.
The media briefing triggered the immediate suspension of Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, and the establishment of a Presidential Commission of Inquiry as well as a Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee
The event celebrates excellence in journalism, public communication and leadership.

- A collaborative effort across multiple agencies with a shared mission and purpose, that's how the head of the New Jersey State Police described efforts to secure the region that will host 8 FIFA World Cup games, including the final on the 19th of July 2026.
The 82-thousand seater Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford New Jersey, about 20 minutes from Manhattan New York, is the key focal point for the region.
The New Jersey State Police is the lead agency on public safety, working closely with the New York Police Department, and other local and federal law enforcement.
About 1.2 million visitors are expected to travel to the area for the World Cup.
