Rugwabiza was appointed, in February 2022, as UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ new Special Representative for the Central African Republic and Head of MINUSCA, succeeding Mankeur Ndiaye of Senegal, who had led the Mission since 2019.
In this November 25 interview, The New Times’ James Karuhanga, sat down with Rugwabiza in Bangui. He asked her about, among others, her day-to-day activities as she works to help the Central African Republic get back on its feet and her assessment of the country’s resilience.
