- The brother of an Irish firefighter who was one of the first responders after the 9/11 attacks 25 years ago has paid a special tribute to him.
Martin Lyons wore his brother Michael’s New York City Fire Department top to a commemoration in Tuam, Co Galway.
Michael Lyons died from cancer stemming from his heroic rescue efforts in the aftermath of the attacks.
“It was the first time I took the top out and I wasn’t sure if I would ever wear it to be honest, but I felt today might be a fitting time to do it and bring a bit of Michael with me,” Martin said.

Nearly 3,000 people were killed on Tuesday 11th September 2001, when al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger planes and turned them into weapons.
It was the deadliest terror attack ever carried out on US soil.
Here in Ireland, a number of memorials have been held in honour of the people who lost their lives that day - including Irish victims.
Maura McHugh, whose sister Anne-Marie died in the 9/11 attacks, said most of her sister's friends died that day, very few managed to escape the building.

- More than 30 women have told RTÉ Prime Time they experienced sexual harassment, misogyny, bullying or intimidation while working in the National Ambulance Service (NAS).
In a special report that airs on RTÉ One at 9.35pm, Hannah, not her real name, said in one instance a senior male colleague made a series of sexual comments while they worked an overnight shift together.
Another woman, Barabra, also not her real name, said she experienced sexual harassment when a male colleague "placed his hand firmly on my backside" while assisting a patient.
In a statement, the HSE said it regretted the serious concerns raised by staff working in the NAS and said all staff had the right to feel safe, respected and valued at work.
Many of the women spoke anonymously because they continue to work in the service. Their voices have been altered to protect their identities.

- The descendants of a group of volunteers who took part in the 1916 Rising in Co Laois, are calling for their relatives to be awarded ‘proper recognition’ by the State.
Acting under the direct orders of Pádraig Pearse, the men and women demolished a section of the Portlaoise railway line and dismantled communication lines on Easter Sunday night 1916.
Their goal was to prevent British military reinforcements from reaching their comrades in Dublin, via Waterford, after war broke out in the capital.
Pat Fleming, whose grandfather spearheaded the 1916 Portlaoise campaign, believes recognition is long overdue.

- A two-year-old boy, who died in a hit-and-run incident in Co Limerick, has been named locally as Peter Mulcaire.
The boy, who is understood to be from Abbeycourt, Rathkeale, was pronounced dead after being struck by a car near his home yesterday afternoon.
He was taken to University Hospital Limerick by a family member for treatment of serious injuries.
The boy was subsequently pronounced dead and gardaí have said that a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
