Garda Donal Corcoran and senior civilian official Rose Sweeney were connected to the Garda Protected Disclosures Office, handling disclosures concerning alleged wrongdoing within the force.
They allege that reforms designed to protect Garda whistleblowers and ensure allegations of serious wrongdoing are fairly investigated have been undermined by decisions and actions of senior management.
Both allege that whistleblowers have been penalised for coming forward and believe they themselves were penalised for protecting Gardaí who made disclosures. Both say they have been “forced out” of their roles and are currently dependent on social welfare payments.
They are among four Garda whistleblowers speaking publicly for the first time to RTÉ Investigates, three of whom are still serving in the organisation.

As he left the Áras, President Trump was asked a number of questions by journalists.
He said that everything would “work out just fine” when asked whether he could help move traffic through the Strait of Hormuz in light of fresh concerns about Saudi Arabia.
