Southern shift manager Lyn Crosson said they also responded to a slip on the road in Cobden. Crosson said they were gearing up for more heavy rain and possible flooding this afternoon.
Cobden resident Jonathan Stark says his rain gauge shows more than 120 millimetres of rain fell in about three hours overnight.

Five months after devastating flooding they are instead living in Hewlett's mother's campervan and doing their laundry in a greenhouse.
Little River was swamped following torrential rain in February that prompted a state of emergency for Banks Peninsula and left a trail of destruction through the township nestled in a valley on State Highway 75.
While the floodwaters have long gone, locals like Hewlett are still rebuilding their lives on the slow road to recovery.

Resident Tricia Hewlett says February's flood was the third in just 11 months since she and her partner moved to Little River. She's now taken out a mortgage to lift her house in the hope it will survive the next inevitable storm.
Christchurch Mayor Phil Mauger says he's confident better flood protection measures will be in place within a year.
He acknowledges the council had already promised improvements for Little River after the flood in May last year.
